In 1867 - after the triumph of the republican resistance against Maximiliano's Empire - President Juárez promoted the restoration of Mexico's government and public life and our justice system. Since then, the activity of the Supreme Court of Justice was reflected in the pages of the Semanario Oficial de la Federación (Weekly Journal of the Federation), whose different jurisprudential eras pointed out -through time- the main transformations experienced by our Supreme Court, in its role of last instance of the Judicial Power. At the conclusion of the so called "Eighth Era" - in 1995 -, the Supreme Court had achieved remarkable independence and maturity, as a result of its complex historical relationship with Mexican society, and with the other powers of the federated Union.

During the last twelve years, the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation consolidated its autonomy not only against the other Powers of the Union, but also against the great factual powers of modern Mexican society. Converted into a Constitutional Court in 1994, the Supreme Court has contributed to the protection of human rights and the balance of public powers, through its judgments and the jurisprudence derived from them, communicating all of its work through the Semanario Oficial de la Federación (Weekly Journal of the Federation). Thus, in the course of its last two jurisdictional eras - the ninth and the tenth - the Supreme Court has become an institution of utmost importance for the citizens, decreeing sentences that have contributed to the rights protection of women, children and other vulnerable sectors of the population.

150 años del Ateneo Fuente
150 years ago, the Ateneo Fuente became the first school of high-school education in our country, even before the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria (National Preparatory School) of Mexico City. Borned in November 1867 in the city of Saltillo, the Ateneo materialized the desire of the local liberal intellectuals to have a rational and modern education, to prepare the youngest from the North in the tasks imposed by the new republican and liberal order. 150 years after its founding, different generations of "atenistas" tell us the endearing stories of their alma mater.

Escuela Nacional Preparatoria: ágora y semillero de México. Capítulo 1 (1867 - 1910)
After the victory over the French invasion -in 1867-, the liberal government of President Benito Juarez set out to lay the foundations of a new national order, which considered education the guarantee of stable progress towards a future of peace, well-being and justice. Within the new educational model, the foundation of the National Preparatory School was a transcendent moment in Mexican history. Conceived to inculcate scientific thought in the new generations- against to metaphysical and religious ideas - the National Preparatory School became, during the following decades, the most important development lever of an increasingly free and modern nation.

Escuela Nacional Preparatoria: ágora y semillero de México. Capítulo 2 (1910-2017)
At the outbreak of the Mexican Revolution in 1910, the National Preparatory School was already the most important educational center of the country, and its classrooms were constantly graduating many young people called to lead public life in the field of letters, arts, politics and the so called "liberal professions". At the end of the Revolution, those same graduates who had witnessed the destruction caused by the war, worked in the urgent task of rebuilding the country. Since then -and to this day-, thousands of high school students have gone through the venerable classrooms of the Colegio de San Ildefonso, and later through the many schools that spread through the capital of the country. This program presents their experiences, anecdotes and their contribution to the cultural and material progress of Mexico.
