Valerio Zeno 'cuts his size' by walking knees-in-boots. Thus he experiences for a painful day how an otherwise normal midget sees life and why a size-handicap really affects his professional and personal options. Valerio also follows an adolescent girl with a mental disorder making her unable to make almost any decision, while scared of such innocent things as bright-colored packaging.

Valerio meets Ronald (21), who suffers since a few years from narcolepsia, a disease causing him to fall asleep uncontrollably. This disqualifies him from study, work or driving, smashing all his dreams. Maud (17) has ichtyosis, an extremely rare skin condition entailing frequent and wide-spread itch. Despite the ugly rash it takes her only courage and tenacity to lead a fairly normal life.

Sander (23) suffers from hyperhydrosis, which means almost constantly excessive transpiration. Valerio finds out all about his wardrobe and hygiene problems, and how they affect his studies, side-job and self-confidence. Kim (30) has an extremely rare and serious birth defect: she has nor arms. Yet thanks to remarkable 'dexterity' of both feet and clever amenities in home and car, she leads a surprisingly 'normal' life.

Koen (24) is born with bad hearing but recently developed tinitus, a constant buzz in his ear. The concentration loss wrecks almost any activity. Simulations drive others crazy in no time, although Valerio keeps calm while requesting to stop it. Eline (17) has a Ehlers Danlos, a rare congenital and incurable, progressive disease which causes any of her joints to get frequently displaced, which requires putting back in their sockets several times a day. Boths lives are gravely disrupted.

Elin (26) suffers from a life-long kidney condition. Thrice a week she must spend hours in hospital for dialysis. That may change when her mother donates a kidney for a transplantation. Alice (24) suffers from schizophrenia. She constantly believes to hear inexistent voices, including a singing child, and believes to see imaginary objects and a dark, hooded man, part of her general paranoia.

Bart Foundation special
Valerio visits two finalists for the annual Bikkel prize awarded by the Bart Foundation (for the handicapped and chronic disease sufferers) to an initiative from an affected person. Debbie (19) had brain hemorrhages leaving her in need of permanent fluid draining, causing extreme susceptibility to migraine. Annie lost her right arm in a tourist bus accident. She plans to launch a Dutch version of the I('m)perfect campaign to make people think about handicaps. Both projects need to raise money, at least enough for a structural break-even.
