Foggy says that Norman and Compo are not up to British standards of fitness so he puts them through an assault course in which he does not actually participate. Howard is promoting a phony bicycle race to get away from Pearl. Because of Foggy, Norman and Compo become stuck in drainpipes that were lying by the road.

A poll taker has the misfortune to stop Foggy on the street. Rumour has it that Howard has a wooden leg, but he is just performing carpentry out of wedlock. Auntie Wainwright sells Norman a portable barbecue.

Norman falls prey to the Widow Attacliffe.

Howard wants Norman to purchase a present for Marina from Auntie Wainwright. The police pick up Foggy for suspicious behavior. The ladies are preparing a church jumble sale. Auntie Wainwright is pushing a new product.

Compo decides to take his bicycle out of storage, although it is in need of some basic safety repairs. The spectacle of Compo careening downhill without brakes inspires Foggy's inventive side. He enlists Wesley's help in building an invention to improve general bicycle safety, which of course Compo gets to test. Howard is worried that Pearl is attracted to a taller man, and tries several futile methods of increasing his height. Auntie Wainwright is keen on getting Smiler to make a delivery so she can collect on the sale, but Smiler becomes hesitant when he learns who the customer is. Glenda persuades the ladies to have a picnic lunch, but of course with Edie behind the wheel, no one enjoys the drive in the country. Their picnic spot is determined when they simply refuse to travel any further, and they soon find that the location is not as secluded as they might have wished.

Howard purchases a cast iron bath tub from Auntie Wainwright and needs Foggy, Norman and Compo to help deliver it to Marina. The ladies have a picnic.

Smiler offers fifty pounds to whomever could free him from his landlady, Nora Batty.

A pretty young gypsy woman is selling trinkets in the village. Unfortunately, for her, she crosses paths with Auntie Wainwright. Howard and Marina build a tree house. Foggy thinks that there may be a giant woodpecker in the woods and wants to stat a nature tour business.

Foggy attempts to invent a new watercraft. Auntie Wainwright forces Smiler to take her unethical business practices on the road. Howard comes up with yet another bizarre idea for an extramarital tryst with Marina.

At an ancient stone circle, Foggy, Norman and Compo meet a man waiting for visitors from outer space. Howard wrecks Norman's bicycle and, in trying to repair it, Wesley creates a Frankenbike. Howard and Marina try meeting after sundown...at the stone circle.
