Norman, Compo and Foggy attempt to help Howard deliver a birthday card to Marina without Pearl finding out. Compo is a bit jealous of local athlete Ernie Burniston.
Compo hears Nora Batty say that she likes seeing men in riding gear. Misunderstanding Nora's statement, Compo dons old motorbike leathers, Foggy set him straight. Pearl wants Howard to be seen in public with her to stop rumors about him and Marina.
Pearl is forcing Howard to wear horribly garish clothing so that he will hide from Marina. Compo is uncharacteristically dapper in a new suit as he plans to attend the funeral of a former teacher.
Ivy and Nora Batty are looking for volunteer performers for a church concert. Howard tries to convince Pearl that he wants to perform as a pantomime horse, in a costume requires two people. Foggy is, again, lying about his WWII experiences. Norman and Compo try to get him to submit to their child hood lie-detector test.
Marina wants Norman to deliver a "cuddly" birthday present to Howard when Pearl is not looking. Compo is upset by something Nora Batty says. Foggy is, again, ejected from the library for disturbing patrons.
Foggy designs a vehicle for Wesley to build and Compo to test pilot, but they must purchase wheels from Auntie Wainwright. Howard has new schemes to see Marina.
Foggy, Norman and Compo rent a bouncy castle from Auntie Wainwright for the charity Faerie-land Gala Parade. Howard insists on dressing as a sheep for Bo Peep.
