Jelita is the wife of Makmur and the mother of a child named Bintang. Since the beginning of the relationship and even until marriage, Makmur's parents, Babe Juhri and Nyak Imah, did not like Jelita. In the village, Jelita's family is very rich and has acres of rice fields, while Makmur's family is just ordinary vegetable traders in the market. Babe Juhri and Nyak Imah think Jelita and her family are arrogant.
