On December 13, 1979 there was a shootout on the streets of Whittier California. This shootout involved 3 undercover Whittier Police Detectives and two motorcycle gang members. In the end two lives were lost. One of which was Detective Michael Lane. Mike Lane was the second Officer in the department's history to have been killed in the line of duty. The first was Detective John Pierce, only 3 years earlier. The purpose of Forgotten Tales has always been to shine a light on forgotten history - but in this case, it's to ensure that the story of Detective Michael Lane is never forgotten.
