Music in the Valley
In the San Gabriel Valley during the 1950s and 60s were years of growth that laid the foundation for the current communities we know today. During this time the first neighborhoods, churches, schools and businesses were built. Along with the essentials for a growing community, there was also the need for entertainment. This story explores the valley's earliest dance halls, bars, clubs, honky tonks, the musical acts that entertained there, and the people who hung out there.
