Two stories are outlined. 1. On September 28, 2015, 20-year-old Joseph W. Smedley II, a student at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, sends his sister Vivianne Bernas a cryptic message about leaving town to move overseas. Three days later on October 2, 2015, his body is found in Griffy Lake, weighted down by a backpack filled with 66 pounds of rocks. The authorities declare the case to be a suicide, but the family disagrees. The family has not had adequate access to the police files and are still looking for answers. 2. On July 6, 2004, 22-year-old Molly Laura Dattilo of Indianapolis, Indiana disappeared. She was last seen with John Shelton, a violent man with a prison record who is a person of interest, along with John's father, Edward Shelton. In October 2008, a caller to a tip line shared information that John Shelton told his father Edward Shelton that he had "accidentally" killed a girl. The family members sued John Shelton in civil court and won their case. However, they still do not have answers about what happened and the police do not have enough evidence to further the case. Molly Dattilo was legally declared dead, but the family still wants answers.

The Party's Over
Two stories are outlined. 1. Mitrice Richardson, age 24, went missing on September 17, 2009 after police released her from a jail in Calabasas, California, where she had been taken after behaving erratically at a restaurant. She was missing for 11 months before being found deceased in August 2010 by park rangers. Her parents have not gotten straight answers from the authorities as to why they let her walk off alone into the dark night with no cell phone, purse or money. Those items were in her car, which the police had put in an impound lot. 2. Ft. Hood, Killeen, Texas soldier Christopher Ferguson, age 21, either fell, or was pushed, from a 3rd story apartment balcony on March 18, 2007. He died at the hospital. He was attending a party with several of his friends. Christopher's sister, Christina McDonald, has been unable to get a clear explanation from the authorities about the actual circumstances of his death. The Army ruled his death a suicide.

Suspicious Circumstances

Racheyl Smith Brinson was having problems in her marriage and had told others that she was thinking about asking for a divorce. Racheyl's husband Steve Brinson was allegedly an abusive partner. He claims that his wife fell to her death while hunting at the Mumford Island Hunting Club in Woodbine, Georgia. 2. April 2019. Bayview Neighborhood in San Francisco, California: The boyfriend of Jessica Nicole Alva, Clayton Rhoades, was released from prison in January 2019 and moved in with Jessica. He claims that she hanged herself. Jessica's family suspects foul play in death of woman investigated by police as a suspected suicide.

Wilkes County, Georgia, September 23, 2012: A Georgia man, 35-year-old Jeffrey Gebhardt, suffers 17 stab wounds while on a deer hunting trip with his friend David Smith, and authorities rule his death a suicide, shocking his family. STORY 2. Pemberton, British Columbia, Canada: 26-year-old Marshal Iwaasa disappears on November 17, 2019 without warning. Six days later, his burned-out vehicle is found by hikers on November 23, 2019, 700 miles and 14 hours away from where anyone saw him last in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Local law enforcement has closed the case and Marshal's family is desperate for answers.

STORY 1. Oakley Carlson, age 4, disappeared from Grays Harbor, Washington in February 2021. No one can find her, including her foster parents and her biological parents, Andrew Carlson and Jordan Bowers, who are currently under investigation for having told falsehoods to law enforcement that were debunked. Oakley had spent about three years with a foster family, Erik and Jamie Jo Hiles, before she was legally returned to her parents, Carlson and Bowers. STORY 2. March 31, 2018, Wheat Ridge, Colorado: A young mother, Jennifer Myers, born December 17, 1986 and now age 31, leaves a bar with a much older man, age 65, that she doesn't know and ends up dead in his house from a shotgun wound to her head. The main suspect, Randy Allen William, born on August 9, 1953, is the only suspect. There are many inconsistencies in this suspected murder case, but the Wheat Ridge Police Department rules this case a suicide. Jennifer's family is baffled and wants answers to their questions, such as: If the death was truly a suicide, why was the shotgun that killed her found outside by a fence on Randy William's property? Why was Randy William shown on a surveillance camera carrying two rifle cases out of his house before he called 911? Since Randy William was a former paramedic, why did he offer Jennifer no help? The family has many more questions they would like answered.

STORY 1. 14-year-old Max DeVries from Brighton, Michigan disappears in May 2004 under suspicious circumstances while on vacation with his mother, sister and Aunt in Aruba. Max was last seen in the ocean riding jet skis with an older man. His disappearance happened a year before the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in 2005, but did not get as much press coverage. The investigation into his unusual disappearance remains active. STORY 2. August 19, 1992: A man kidnaps Laurie J. Depies, age 20 at the time, from the parking lot of her boyfriend's apartment complex in the former town of Menasha, Wisconsin, which is now known as Fox Crossing. Laurie's family is extremely frustrated that Laurie's case is still unsolved, but there is very limited physical evidence in this heartrending case.
