Peter travels through the west of Crete. Along the way, he visits the Greek city of Chania and also discovers ancient ruins, beautiful beaches, and some wonderful opportunities for hiking.
Peter gets an education on the geological history of Crete as he heads into the mountains. He hikes through the Samaria Gorge and makes his way to nearby islands that few people visit.
Peter explores the caves of Matala and some of Crete's seaside cliffs, searching for the bearded vulture; he bumps into a local shepherd and learns about life in the mountains.
Peter travels to Heraklion to explore the urban expanse and major landmarks, before continuing on to Knossos, an ancient palace where the story of the Minoan people was found.
Peter explores one of Crete's prettiest cities, Rethymno, from its Venetian fortifications and mix of architecture, to the food and countless artisans practising their craft in the beautiful medieval town.
As Peter finishes up his time in Sikinos, he takes a trip to one of the most remarkable monasteries in the Aegean, before continuing on to Folegandros.
