75 year old Charles Jensen lives on his own with a dog and two horses at the far end of an isolated Norwegian fjord. He has no neighbors and no road connection but enjoys nothing more than spending the winter months hunting and skiing, spending the night in his own home-made tent.

In Vassvika, two families have their home. They have no road and no quay and if the wind is too strong or the fjord is covered in ice, they are completely isolated from the rest of the world. While the men are away fishing, only two women remain, one is 95 years old, and the other is 25 and hails from China.

Bleikøya is an island situated just outside Oslo. Berit and Christian Gulbrandsen are the only inhabitants and despite being isolated for most of the year and with Christian needing constant care, they still love their island home and are not looking to move.

Sami girl Mari Anne Kumpulainen Vanhaphia lives a traditional hunter gatherer life on the tundra in the far north of Norway. Her husband is a Finnish rein-herder so they spend large parts of the year in separate countries as he can not move his flock across the border.
