A number of art shops have been broken into with paintings stolen to order. Bonnie finds a link to a man called Abbo and curator Jenny Wilder, who has exported paintings from fourteen of the galleries. Jenny is put under investigation.
Hackett and his team are left in the lurch when Raymond Blake fails show to pick up £100,000 in stolen cash. Blake is met by Charlie Walker and his team who demand an 80% cut. When Mrs. Blake is seen with aid Venables, Hackett is alerted.
Geoffrey Wyatt wants a Queen's Pardon for his son Paul, who was wrongfully hanged 15 years earlier. He takes M. P. Jack Sissons hostage with a briefcase of explosives. Wyatt names Raymond John Perry, a target criminal of Supt. Hackett.
Millett Construction are bidding for the M58 contract. Civil servant John McCorquadale is caught in a honey trap by Chaz Carter but then killed. Hecht buys Millett Construction from Ernest Millett and Supt. Hacket tries to find the money.
Supt. Hackett and DC Brian Aston are guarding informer, Heslop prior to giving evidence against target criminal Collyer. Aston is blown up by a bomb placed in Heslop's car. Now Heslop has gone on the run from both, Hackett and Collyer.
Hackett bumps into ex-girlfriend Trish Walker, at the airport. She is carrying £12,000 of cocaine for Scott Taylor. While out, with Hackett, Taylor's drug deal goes wrong and an innocent man is killed. Hackett is brought to investigate.
Steve Hackett's former fiancee Gemma Maskell ring hims out of the blue wanting to see him. He is unaware that her husband is threatening her life if she doesn't return to London. The following day she is dragged from the river strangled.
A courier arriving from Frankfurt is mugged. He has on him a sample case with pure gold moldings. Hackett believes Billy Jarvis is smuggling gold and using his porn empire has a front. He is certain Jarvis is paying for heroin with gold.
