After saving the firm from collapse, Paule sets about getting Warnier out of his legal mess. She also has to deal with Irene, who is completely overwhelmed with her newborn. Paule offers to buy out her shares.
Paule defends a man who is a victim of domestic violence and who accidentally killed his partner. She asks her colleague, Maître Carbon, to make Irène a job offer.
Accused of having transmitted HIV to several women, Nicolas calls on the firm for his defense. Paule discovers with dismay that Irène has delegated custody of her son to Simon's mother. The latter, disturbed, mistakes him for her own son.
Paule becomes Simon's surrogate mother. Warnier announces to his dying mother that he is going to marry Paule and adopt Simon. Paule defends a young policewoman accused of committing a blunder during an intervention in a housing project.
Warnier is unable to take the step of giving his lessons in prison; Paule accompanies him by force. She meets Julien Ocelot there and resumes his defense at the last minute. Irène comes out of her depression and regains custody of her son.
Paule, sensitive to Julien's suffering, lets herself be overwhelmed by her feelings. She falls in love with him. Irène tries to bring her back to reason by arguing that Paule is suffering from having lost custody of Simon.
Paule is increasingly in love with Julien, which the firm views with a very bad eye. Eaten up by guilt Irène decides to watch over her to the point of getting herself into some rather crazy situations. Like digging up the body of a victim.
Paule and Irene sue a pharmaceutical company that put a dangerous drug on the market for infants. They join forces to gain the trust of a whistle blower cardiologist who was dismissed because of her accusations.
