Strange beginning of the travel :near Khulgumo a wagon has been used as a bridge over a river: the idea was to open in this wagon a restaurant but the project failed and the wagon remained abandoned.Then Philippe travels to Svanetia, an mountain area near the Caucasus: in a village he meets three gold seekers who invited to go to the Golden River and to find gold in this river.Then travel to Batoumi, the town at the Black Sea: from there Philippe takes the modern train "Batoumi-Tbilisi": 330 kilometers (in about 5 hours).n board Philippe speaks with a young who sells beverages and snacks about lecture: the railway company has books in this train and everybody can take a book ,read it and give back at the end of the travel.In Tbilisi Philippe meet young man in a barber shop and this young man invites Philippe to a serenade,the young man will ask his girlfriend to marry him, so in the middle of the street the young man and his friends are singing and the young woman accepts to marry the young man.There are also fireworks.In the night Philippe takes a night train to Vardzia, a town with a great history- the cave monastery built by the king George III and later by his daughter Tamar, the frescoes of the the king, of his daughter Tamar and of the Virgin Mary ad Jesus.Near in Bordjomi Philippe sees the residences of the Russian imperial family and takes a little excursion train (called Kukushka).In the north of the country near Tsagueri Philippe meets a family who is harvesting grapes, the grandfather is narrowing poems, after the harvest Philippe is invited to press the grapes with his bare feet, they have a great supper.

Beginning of the journey in Uttendorf-Stubachtal: a train (Pinzgauer Lokalbahn) which reaches the local ski places and then the people can take directly the lifts to the top of the mountains.Philippe stops at Krimml and visits Tony: a farmer who is milking his cows singing yodel.Tony shows Philippe how to sing yodel using the echo, finally at the top of the mountain Tony gives a yodel class to Swiss tourists ( singing makes him happy). Philippe comes back to to Zell am See and meets a 50 years old man (I don't remember his name) who will to pull a locomotive and some wagons and the man manages to move them along one meter and is very happy ( every 6 hours of physical training).Then Philippe takes the historical line from Vienna to Bruck an der Mur, an Austrian lady with her typical Austrian tells him the story of the line build in 1850 (20.000 workers, 14 tunnels, 118 stone bridges).Then Philippe arrives at Axams, a village of Tirol: the "Wampeler",men in white (the winter) are fighting against men in green (the spring).Then in Innsbruck Philippe takes the train to Vienna and speaks with a Austrian man about the Austro-Hungarian empire and the great geniuses of the music (Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven and of course Johann Strauss).In Vienna Philippe goes to one of the famous cafes, has a cup of coffee and a chocolate cake: very pleasant ambiance.Then Philippe participate in a ball organized by the student brotherhood Rudelfina, a young man explains him the pleasure to dance waltz.As Philippes said it was chic (tuxedo for the men and nice white dresses for women) and also cool, Philippe enjoyed the frenzy of the waltzes and of the square-dancing.

Beginning of the journey in the east of Ethiopia in Chenele on the railway line from Djibouti to Addis Abbeba: the trains are circulating twice a week.On board a lot of women who are selling vegetables, fruits and leaves of khat. In the town of Harar Philippe meets Bignam, the friend of the spotted hyenas: in the night Bignam and Philippe go outside of the town and Bignam calls and feeds the hyenas.Then Philippe take a new train inaugurated on 2018 with the help of the People's Republic of China.Pleasant talks with the passengers about the history and the culture of Ethiopia. Next stop Lalibela with its monolithic church (12-13 the century), the visit of a church on a mountain (3.200 meters).Then Addis Ababa (the capital with about 4 millions of inhabitants): aerobics with Abdi on a parking (Ethiopia has a lot of famous long distance runners).Later return to the east of Ethiopia (Aterow) where farmers have to coexist with baboons which are very interested in their harvest.The family share with Philippe the injera (sour fermented flatbread made from teff flour) and vegetables with sauces).

Panama: Colón-Portobello-Iles San Blas
Philippe Gougler begins his journey en Colon: there is a railway track along the Panama canal.Philippe meets two employees of the Canal Railway company: they drive a car with wheels on the track and their duty is to check the railway track.With Philippe they enjoy the view of the Gatun lake.Then Philippe arrives at Panama City, a modern town with 1.529 skyscrapers , but also with old neighborhoods.A short travel in the new underground of Panama.Then Philipp travels to Portobello: thousands of pilgrims have come to see the Black Christ.Some are walking on their knees as a penitence.The streets and the church are full of persons who show their gratitude for a change in their life or for the recovery of their health.Then Philipp visits a ship lock, there a powerful locomotive helps a great ship to cross the lock.In a forest near the canal visits a shelter for sloths.Then Philippe travels in a pleasant train with children of a school who are discovering the pleasures of travelling by train.In Panama Philippe meets Kuna Indians who invite him to spend a moment on the island of the Tiger (San Blas Island) in the Atlantic Sea: this island and other Kuna territories are protected areas.

Danemark: Copenhague-Ribe-Hobro
Philippe begins his journey in the north of Denmark (Jutland): there on a beach women are swimming every day without bath suits in the fresh water of the sea (the temperature of the water was 15 degrees): they say that they are the true Vikings.On a train near Skagen Philippe speaks with a young man about the importance of the women in this country.Then Philippe goes to the island of Laeso: the main economical activities are fishing and salt production.He sees houses with seaweed roofs , then visits a forest school , has a very nice talk about education and responsibility (the children learn how use knives and saws with responsibility.On a beach a woman Marie-Ann show him inoffensive white jellyfishes.Then Philippe takes the train to Copenhagen: he has a very important talk with a young man who is proud to Danish (education system, trust in the politicians).At Copenhagen Philippe meets two chimney sweeps, they enjoy the sight from the roofs of the buildings.Philippe goes to Christiania , the famous free community.Philippe speaks also with an artist who makes great statues with recycled materials.Philippe visits a club of former railway workers who are repairing locomotives and wagons and have their own railway line.Finally at Hibe Philippe meets a club of men and women who enjoying fighting with swords and shields like the Vikings: they explain him that the Vikings have been described by Christians as terrific men but the Vikings deserve to have a better fame.
