Nobody believes Frankfurt BKA officer Cuma Ozan that he simply traveled to idyllic Mordach to hike after a body is found. His local colleagues even believe the mysterious stranger to be the murderer of Laura Brunner. Cuma, an undercover investigator, initially remains silent. The young policewoman Toni has little trust in him when the BKA operations manager Helene Brecht takes over the case and puts Ozan in charge of the investigation. Toni finds out that her new partner knew the victim and that the bullet came from his service weapon. The powerful businessman Brunner, who wants to avenge his daughter, has already identified the culprit. Ozan, who actually wanted to take a break to process a failed operation, cannot remember what happened. He feels that he cannot trust anyone. And he knows that he has to find out for himself whether someone is trying to pin the crime on him.

Undercover investigator Cuma Ozan is under double pressure: while the Frankfurt police are investigating him in a sensitive murder case in the clan milieu, he is still suspected of killing Laura Brunner in Mordach. The noose around Ozan tightens after the victim's half-brother Martin, who is also a suspect, dies under unclear circumstances. To exonerate himself, he reveals the whole truth about his relationship with Laura and how his service weapon went missing to his partner Toni. A new lead leads the unlikely detective duo to the shrewd politician Ronfeldt, who seems to be hiding something. To uncover his secret, Toni sets a trap for the suspect. Meanwhile, the victim's father, the influential businessman Jakob Brunner, is still out for revenge. As with all matters in Mordach, he wants to solve and punish the murder of his daughter in his own way. When Ozan and Toni realize what Brunner is planning, there is little time left.
