Hans Speidel, who led Hitler through conquered Paris at the time, became the highest military officer in the Bundeswehr. And Reinhard Gehlen, Hitler's former chief spy, became the Federal Republic's news chief and adviser on enemy issues. What remains is only the "Legend of the Wehrmacht that stayed clean".
