Summaries

Based on the Brothers Grimm folktale, four aging farm animals, a donkey, a dog, a cat and a rooster, leave their farms to become musicians in Bremen and enjoy life. However, they find a den of thieves and decide to outsmart them.

The adventure begins in a corral, where Koky, a music-loving rooster, spends his nights dancing. At dawn, he falls asleep and does not sing. Pursued by the farmer, Koky flees the farm. Shortly after, he meets a naive and good-natured little donkey (Tonto) who is treated cruelly by his mistress. Koky convinces Tonto to go on adventures with him. The two friends become friends with Lupo, the dog of a traveling musician. Lupo has musical concerns and wishes to form a group to participate in a contest to be held in Bremen. Tired of the life his master gives him, Lupo joins Koky and Tonto. The three head to Bremen, but are surprised by the night. They seek shelter in a mysterious-looking mansion and there they meet Burlón, a stray cat. Meanwhile, some thieves steal the contest prize from the city's burgomaster.—p-56161
