The drama series based on script writer Qiong Yao's own book "Yan Yu Meng Meng" (Misty Rain, published in 1964). Romance in the Rain is the story of revenge, and then, how to love, to forgive, to fight for life, to resist Japan's aggression. Lu Yiping is the daughter of a Commander's eighth concubine. During WWII, she growing up in such an environment forces her to cover herself up with bitterness in order to protect her mom and herself from being hurt.
