In St. Louis, Missouri, in 1906, Father Peter J. Dunne, a parish priest, founds an establishment-home for homeless newsboys. When a newspaper publisher starts a circulation war, one of Father Dunnes boys is killed, and another one commits a murder. By waging a successful campaign to stop advertisers buy ad-space, Father Dunne stops the war.
