Summary After Lola Dupre's lover, Philip Whitney, abandons her, she becomes a famous opera singer and marries the wealthy Senator Fitzmaurice. Lola's fame rekindles Philip's passion for her, but when she scorns him, he threatens to reveal her past unless she provides him with money and jewels. Philip wins the affection of the senator's daughter Marie and asks her to marry him, although he continues to flirt with Lola.
