Down-and-out Frank spends his days drinking and begging in the local underpass until one day, a visit from a stranger changes his life forever. After a long day's begging on Guy Fawkes evening, he drinks and gets warm. The evening turns to night and people return home from their firework displays and their nights out, leaving Frank in peaceful, alcohol induced slumber. He's bedded down for the night with some help from the spirit world - spirits that come from bottles. He has long left his past behind. A short while later, he is approached by a lady from the council who wishes to question him about life on the streets. She offers Frank food and he discovers that her name is Imelda. As trust grows, so does hostility, and changes occur through this meeting. Changes so big, his life will never be the same again.
