Episode 1 • Oct 05, 1961

The Leather Dollar

Boxer Chu Chu Hernandes becomes Scott and Clipper's first customer at Straightaway when he brings his expensive sports car in for repair following an accident. Chu Chu suffers back pain from the incident but insists on performing an important fight. He's badly beaten in the ring, but faces even greater pain when he learns his beloved manager Garcia placed a bet for his opponent to win.

Episode 2 • Oct 12, 1961

The Tin Caesar

While driving his custom auto to a rally, Clipper picks up a hitchhiker and lets him out at a rural gas station. Later, formidable small-town Sheriff Bardeen arrives at his motel and places Clipper under arrest. The gas station attendant, mortally wounded by an assailant, managed to identify Clipper's car with his dying breath. Scott races to help his friend but finds his investigation into the hitchhiker thwarted by Bardeen who doesn't believe Clipper's story.

The Nobles Oblige

A gang of hot rodders who have been terrorizing the neighborhood suddenly target Scott and Clipper's garage after a gang member hits one of their customized cars. Sadistic ring-leader Harkey then orders flunky Eddie Martell to instigate a siege of vandalism against the Straightaway.

Heat Wave

While on their way to deliver a car in Las Vegas, Scott and Clipper stop for gas in the stifling desert town of Carson. Former sheriff Harry Block approaches the duo, desperate for a lift out of town. However, they son discover that none of them can leave as everyone in Carson seems hell bent on stranding them.

Die Laughing

Scott and Clipper intercede in the strained relationship between popular comedian Buddy Conway and his sullen son Les. Father and son are at odds over the accidental death of Buddy's wife in a car crash. Les blames his father for his mother's death, and soon the press does, too.

The Heist

Following the heist of expensive furs, a dangerous gang of thieves decide to infiltrate the Straightaway and remain there until it's safe to move their ill-gotten merchandise. However, their plans go horribly awry, leaving Scott and Clipper's lives in serious danger.

The Stranger

A concerned Scott comes to the aid of his friend Jeannie, who is suddenly being tormented by repeated harassing phone calls from a stranger. When the police show little interest in case, Scott attempts to solve the mystery himself and wonders if an incident from Jeannie's past might hold a clue.

The Racer and the Lady

Scott's determination to win the Grand Prix is tested when he's pursued by the rich, beautiful Pat Hartley, whose interest is primarily in Scott's race car. Meanwhile, Hartley's attention to Scott incites jealously from Juan, another driver who decides to make things extremely difficult for his rival.

Pledge a Nightmare

The Straightaway becomes a crime scene when Scott and Clipper discover a dead body on the premises. The corpse is identified as a college student who apparently died in a fraternity hazing gone wrong. After it's revealed that the victim choked to death, Scott and Clipper play sleuths to solve the case.

The Sportscar Breed

Following his win at the Grand Prix, Scott poses for a magazine layout where he meets lusty photographer's assistant Lucia Parrott. Lucia exploits his interest in her to arouse jealousy from her boyfriend photographer Christopher George. Lucia's game of playing the men against one another leads to a potentially tragic situation.

Faded movie star Lorraine Carrington spends a wistful evening sipping champagne and remembering her late husband on what would have been their anniversary. Later, Lorraine is accused of being responsible for a hit-and-run accident. Scott and Clipper think she's innocent and set out to prove it.

Troubleshooter

Scott and Clipper are distracted by the charms of beautiful race car driver April Moore and allow her to test a new engine they've developed. However, April is secretly a competitor out to help her father market a new race car engine of his own. Her interference threatens financial ruin for the Straightaway.

The Bribe

Struggling medical school student and star college basketball player Chick Lambert takes his car to the Straightaway garage, where he is befriended by Scott and Clipper. Later they attempt to help Chick, who's being pressured by gambler Eddie to shave points in an impending game. When Chick refuses, his pregnant wife Laurie is kidnapped to make him comply.

Last Chance

Former racing champion Ken Peppard's life has spiraled out of control with his drinking. His wife Edie begs Scott and Clipper to let Ken drive their new race car which immediately boosts his confidence -until he learns that Edie arranged his "last chance" opportunity and reacts badly.

A Moment in the Sun

Paul, a hip, smooth-talker with lots of money shows up at the Straightaway with his car. Impressed with his lavish lifestyle and generosity, Scott and Clipper introduce him to their friend Jennifer. However, when another stranger arrives on the scene, they learn Paul isn't who he appears to be.

The Drag Strip

Rich kid Richard Vernon hires Scott and Clipper to build a hot rod for him capable of winning at the local drag strip. Their plans are thwarted by Richard's mother, who, worried about her son, intends to stop them. Mother and son each learn a valuable lesson when Richard goes to race against her wishes.

Crossroad

After Scott and Clipper give young Joe Molina a job working at Straightaway as a mechanic, they discover that he's a juvenile parolee. When his former street gang buddy Tony shows up and attempts to entice Joe into helping him commit a robbery, Scott and Clipper must find a way to help Joe choose the right path again.

Sounds of Fury

Straightaway customer Myra Venable makes an impression on Clipper. When she accidentally leaves her purse behind, he goes after her to return it but inadvertently becomes an eyewitness to her being kidnapped. Clipper's memory for details helps him and the police begin to trace her, though Clipper finds himself in danger, too.

Escape from Darkness

Scott and Clipper become involved in the plight of the frightened and beautiful Jill Paterson. She confides in them that she's on the run from a man who is trying to kill her, and they agree to help her hide out. However, they later meet Jill's step-mother, who claims that Jill is delusional and is actually running away from the psychiatric hospital where she was recently confined.

Tiger by the Tail

To teach him a lesson, Scott and Clipper hire a conceited young know-it-all to work at the Straightaway. He soon begins to take over; however, the partners ultimately learn a lesson of their own when their new employee has a valuable suggestion regarding the engine they're creating.

The Ledge

Scott is reunited with the deeply troubled Johnny Tremaine, his buddy from the Korean War. Scott attempts to help Johnny regain some of his old confidence by teaching him to drive, and it seems to work. However, Johnny suddenly regresses, and after crawling out onto a window ledge, threatens to commit suicide.

The Longest Night

The Straightaway is infiltrated by a prison escapee and his accomplices, who overpower Scott and Clipper and force them to aid in their escape plan. The men endure a long, frightening night as the criminals plan to take over a milk truck headed for the safety of the Mexican border.

Full Circle

Scott and Clipper agree to give a down on his luck stranger for a day's work as a janitor. After he pushes them to hire him as a night watchman and later discover he spent the night in the garage without their permission, the partners become suspicious. Unknown to them, Muley Burke has only recently left a mental hospital and is using them to carry out a deadly plan of revenge.

The Craziest Race in Town

Scott and Clipper seek assistance from a retired car engineer to help them create a special engine for a new race. The winner stands to gain a lucrative contract with a major automotive company, but their competitors don't take the new design seriously.

To Climb Steep Hills

Judy Collins seeks help from Scott about her husband Rad. Rad, a fast rising movie star, has developed an obsession with racing cars. Judy fears that he'll be seriously injured or killed, while Rad's agent Milt Berry worries that the dangerous sport will cost him roles. Scott agrees to dissuade Rad from racing, though it will take some ingenuity to convince him.

The Hoax

After Scott and his wealthy girlfriend Benita Courtney quarrel, she rejects him and falls victim to the charms of Dr. Montrose, a quack who Benita's grandmother fears is out to steal her inheritance. She convinces Scott and Clipper to help rescue Benita from Montrose's clutches.
