Silk Stocking Sal

The story's protagonists are three people: Anna, a wealthy middle-class 35-year old woman who owns, together with her mother and her brother, a factory in the northeast of Italy; she has a love affair with 25-year-old Mara, who works in the factory; then there's Anis, a young man from Maghreb who suddenly storms into their lives.

Traumatized policeman Ben investigates a cold case obscured by a web of guilt, lies and deception. In the process, Marion, a doctor, helps him come to terms with himself and his past.

After seeing her husband fail in fighting a battle to keep his factory open, a manageress loses her job in a disagreement with the manager over sexual harassment of her staff. She accepts the advice of her father and joins his son, a left-wing organizer, and takes her plight to the union.
