Summary Jack Carter, the brother-in-law of a young federal agent, Bob Andrews, is accused of murder, apprehended, jailed and awaiting trial. Andrews takes a leave-of-absence and traces the ownership of the planted-gun found on Carter. Clues lead him to another city where he accompanies Sheriff Williams on an emergency case where the sheriff is forced to kill a murderer. Andrews asks the sheriff to put him in jail, as the late killer, as the owner of the gun is also in the jail.
