After taken to the local neighborhood ER that day by family, the boy is given ice, anti-inflammatory medication, and the small laceration is sutured closed. After the boy was given two series of x-rays, both not showing any conclusive evidence of a serious fracture, the boy's mother instructs the hospital to transfer her son for more imaging tests, given in 1982/1983, that hospital only had x-ray technology.
