After embarrassing her at the movies during a showing of "The Blob", Mrs. Appleby decides to teach George a lesson by tricking him into believing she's turned into a bird with the help of a borrowed parrot. He takes her (the bird) to a psychiatrist for help.
San Fernando Red and his beautiful but crooked companion are living in a shack at the docks when the come up with a phony pirate map and try to get suckers to invest in an undersea treasure hunt. They don't bargain on his backer being a tough, threatening gangster who insists on results.
Sheriff Deadeye gives up being the law for his girlfriend after she expresses concern for his safety. He becomes a bartender but after his girlfriend is kidnapped he must become a sheriff again.

The mayor gets blackmailed with San Fernando's badger game photo, and must let him run a bookie room in city hall. When he pulls the same trick on the governor, they're forced to nominate him at the big convention, but the two politicos get their revenge by showing an unexpected movie.
George and Clara Appleby are conned into renting a room in their home to a bop band leader. In the middle of the night, Clara and George find their sleep shattered.
