Whether it is rectilinear like the French garden, idealized like the romantic, exotic or contemporary garden, the art of gardens is a summary of all the scientific, cultural and emotional intelligence of man. Medieval gardens were places that were both sacred and nourishing before evolving into pleasure gardens with enchanting flowerbeds during the Renaissance. In the century of the Sun King, gardens became reflections of power and ambition with excessive creations. The Age of Enlightenment would then dream of a return to an idealized nature. With the 19th century, after the industrial revolution, gardens became reflections of the souls of creators.
