Heinz Rühmann, "the great little man", won a place in the heart of German viewers with his famous cheeky grin. But in his private life the darling of the audiences was a man full of contradictions. The documentary, which includes exceptionally frank interviews with relatives, friends and colleagues, provide an intimate insight into the private life of this outstanding actor. Previously unreleased private photographs and film footage reveal a side of Rühmann which few would have suspected: serious and introverted, he was not at all pleased if anybody laughed at him in his personal life.
