On the afternoon of May 28, 1999, the alarm comes from Kisa - three heavily armed robbers have robbed the bank and then shot a policeman while fleeing - this is the prelude to a police chase that will end in tragedy.
In the idyllic village of Malexander, the policemen Olle Borén and Robert Karlström have parked their car to keep an eye for the bank robbers. After only a few minutes, a white car appears and it arouses the interest of the policemen.
After the murders of Olle Borén and Robert Karlström, the biggest manhunt in Swedish police history begins. Already after an hour or so, the first robber is in safe custody, but the other two seem to have disappeared without a trace.
Sadness and dismay prevail within the police in Östergötland and the rest of Sweden. After all the robbers have been arrested, the investigation can begin. But what actually happened in Malexander when the two policemen were murdered?
In November 1999, the trial begins against the police killers, who deny all charges. And since the technical investigation cannot determine who did what so are their always a possibility that they can be acquitted of the police murders.
After the verdicts, many wanted answers to which of the three fired the last shots against Olle Borén and Robert Karlström. The answer would come when, after a few years, one of the robbers suddenly asked to speak to the police again.
