The Independence is attacked by an overwhelming force, putting Admiral Cole and her crew in dire straits. Also, Henglaar and Elbrey leave the ship to find Silan.
Naros and Zen attempt to track down the kidnapped Tesla Mor. Nechayev orders Shelby to convince the allies to retain Federation leadership. Aster and Ro have a realization about their relationships. Knapp, Pelas, and McFarland continue their quest to find Traya and Silan, who are working to escape from Siroc. McCabe attempts to get over the loss of Barrett, but S'Tal knows he is still alive.
