Wisting and his team are alerted to a horrific crime scene in Larvik. The severed head of a young asylum seeker is displayed on a spike in the middle of the town square.
Maggie is forced to reveal information that she has previously kept secret from Wisting. The investigation takes a new turn, leading the detectives across the border into Sweden.
In Sweden, Maggie and Wisting finds a previous victim hiding under a false name. Together with the Swedish police they are dragged into a major police operation, but the case ends up back where it started, in Larvik.
