Musical-comedy star Mary martin and the comedy team of Mike Nichols and Elaine May are Jack's guests on the first show of the new season. Jack shows films of his recent visit to Miss Martin's ranch in Brazil, where she raises chickens and cattle. Mary also appears in person to sing on the program. The Nichols-May comedy team, which made its TV debut on Jack's "Tonight" show in 1957, makes the first of six scheduled appearances.

Jackie Vernon, Joe Garagiola, Malcolm Muggeridge
Jack's guests are comedian Jackie Vernon, sportscaster Joe Garagiola and humorist Malcolm Muggeridge. Garagiola joins Paar in a humorous salute to baseball that includes films of past World Series and All-Star games. Muggeridge, former editor of the British magazine Punch, discusses the coming U.S. elections and the "Mods" and "Rockers," Britain's two leading teenage groups.

Singer Nat King Cole, comedian Joe E. Lewis and teen-age actress Tippy Walker are Jack's guests. Miss Walker chats with Jack Paar about her favorite entertainers; Lewis jokes about himself; and Nat King Cole offers "On the Street Where You Live," "Don't Want to See Tomorrow" and "Hello, Dolly!".

Really impressed with Miss Lee, Jack gets her to sing "Boy From Ipanema" twice in a row. She also sings "Make Believe" and "Lost in His Arms." A film of British kids talking about America,then Wences does his act with assist from Jack. Nichols & May in a hospital receiving room sketch.
