Protesting that baby-sitting zoo animals is not a job for Bedrock's two finest policemen, Fred and Barney nonetheless promise to feed the animals and guard the zoo until the zookeeper returns.
Along with Shmoo, Fred and Barney patrol Bedrock Park, where they encounter Frankenstone's pet, Rockjaw. The little fiend wrecks the trees, sawing them into irregular shapes with his teeth.
Sgt. Boulder sends Fred and Barney to Mount Bedrock to investigate strange noises and footprints on the mountain. The bungling duo, assisted by the Shmoo, discover that the mountain is haunted by the vicious Rockjaw.
While loading a fortune in gold onto the Bedrock Express, policemen Fred and Barney inadvertently stack it on a bank robber's railcar. Trying to fix their mistake, the two volunteers, plus Shmoo, chase the thief all the way to Fort Rocks.
Fred and Barney retrieve Mrs. Vanderock's "Kitty," a saber-toothed tiger, from a tree. After they succeed in the mission, a pleased Mrs. Vanderock asks them to uncover the person eating all the food at the wealthy heiress' garden party. With Shmoo's help, they learn that the scoundrel is actually "Kitty." Delighted with their efforts, Mrs. Vanderock "rewards" them with the task of locating Kitty's twin brother!
When Fred and Barney discover Rockjaw munching on the merchandise of the Bedrock Department Store, they attempt to capture the lout. With the help of the Shmoo, the two policemen stop the hungry creature before he empties the store.
While patrolling Bedrock Park, Fred and Barney have their motorcycle stolen. Summoning Captain Caveman and the Shmoo, the two patrolmen get their bike back and uncover a gang of car thieves.
Fred and Barney jump into their dune buggy to stop Rockjaw from eating the pier. The problem is solved when the furry creature climbs aboard a garbage scow, where he appeases his appetite and city officials with his cleanup abilities.
Fred and Barney guard a movie set. Not realizing the actors are planning a staged robbery, Bedrock's finest volunteer policemen engage in a spectacular glider flight to chase and catch the thieves.
