Doc Croc and Yoyo crash into a barn just in time to hear a widow and her son Jack threatened by a tax collector. Jack prepares to sell their cow, and meets a mysterious stranger who offers beans he claims are magic, which Jack accepts. After his mother throws them out the window, each sprouts an enormous stalk. Climbing to take the beans they think will be on them, the three find none but end up above the clouds near a castle inhabited by a giant couple, and are captured for food.

Yoyo and Doc land in a cage in a castle courtyard holding a wild man, Iron Hans, then learn from Prince Maximilian he's cursed. When the ball they play with falls into the cage, Maximilian gives himself up to try to stop Iron Hans from hurting them, but he captures all three. In the Dark Forest, they're left by a pond ordered to stay out of it, but Maximilian's hair dips into it trying to stop the two falling in. Iron Hans sends them away saying he'll help if they need it and they enter a kingdom where Maximilian falls in love with Princess Annabella. Hearing another country threatens her land, Maximilian wants to help defend it.

Doc and Yoyo help an old weak sheepdog named Sultan but learn his owner will send him to the pound anyway. He seeks help from a wolf giving an open offer of repayment despite the others' distrust. He says he'll act as though he'll take Sultan's master's baby and let Sultan "bring him back" so he'll be kept. But afterwards the wolf demands sheep in return and Sultan needs a way to stop him.

Yoyo and Doc Croc hear a soldier named Gerard being introduced to a dozen princesses - hired by the king to see how they're dancing without his chaperoning enough to wear through shoes each night. Gerard is offered one of their hands for success but great punishment for failure. The sisters offer him wine and music to lull him to sleep, but the pair warn him. Following the princesses, the three go below the castle and enter a land with a gold forest and find they dance with twelve princes.

Doc and Yoyo meet a drummer boy who has recurring dreams of a princess urging him to free her from the witch of Glass Mountain. They get past the giant before it by tricking him into thinking they have a larger giant so he'll carry them up. The witch almost tricks the boy into burning a wardrobe she's imprisoned the princess in but he saves her, though is cut and put under a spell by the witch. They escape to his village and she warns him to kiss no one on the right cheek since he did this to her lest he not remember her. But he does it to his mother and forgets the experience, and the mayor's greedy daughter becomes engaged to him when she sees his jewels from the princess.

Doc and Yoyo meet Isabelle, whose father Daniel tried to grant her request for a lark but ended up taking a lion's, who demanded his life or the first thing to greet him at home, which turned out to be Isabelle. When they go to the lion's estate, they learn he is a prince, Hubert, and like his people has been cursed to transform in daylight by his sorcerer cousin Seymour for refusing to marry his daughter Belinda. The two build a closed room for him in Isabelle's home as he visits so no sunlight will invoke another curse, but Seymour unleashes termites, causing light to hit and turn him into a dove forced to fly seven years. The pair keep track of his trail of feathers, but Seymour turns Belinda into a snake to snare Hubert when the time is up.

The two convince the king to offer him a chance when deciding on his heir, and he sends a feather for each to follow to retrieve a fine rug, ring, and fair maiden. Simon and the duo end up in the hills and find a trapdoor to an underground lair where a witch holds a princess-turned-toad prisoner.
