It would take nearly another 30 million years before the 26 Atolls that make up the Maldives would form and Laamu is the largest of them all. Fitting, because the name itself means first seen part.

The volcanic mountainous island is home to about 180,000 residents over an area of about 238 square miles. Tourism is the biggest draw to the island mainly because of its abundance of natural resources and friendly inhabitants.
