During his flight Escobar falls sick and hallucinates that he is caught by Naranjo. Rocha pays General Silva a visit to warn him that Naranjo can complicate things. Martínez refuses to become a part of Fonseca's life.
Noriega takes charge of the operation to get information about Rueda and discovers the ties between Rocha and the attempt against Dussan, but Castaño gets ahead and destroys any leads on the case. Escobar's family seeks asylum in Germany.
Amidst the search for Escobar, Bustamante and Martínez get caught up in a romance, clouding her feeling towards Fonseca. The hunters are getting closer and closer to catching Escobar, who is boxed in by his family situation.
After several months searching, they bring Escobar down in Medellín. Rocha gets rid of Rueda to steer clear of any leads that might incriminate him, but Noriega gets his smoking gun by recording his confession. El Liso contacts Rita.
Naranjo shows the President proofs that Rocha is an accomplice to the murder of Dussan. El Liso gets in touch with Rita to try to get her to change sides. Martínez and Fonseca's plans together get destroyed.
Fonseca takes matters into his own hands to avenge Martinez's death. The fight for Colombia's presidency takes a dark turn when they use money from the Cali Cartel for Sampedro's campaign.
El Liso is held prisoner by the Abadía brothers, for betraying them. Saldaña loses the election and the drug-trafficking tapes gain momentum. Naranjo who has mixed feelings for Noriega is called to work at the DNS.
Political tension over the Sampedro's corrupted campaign breaks the relationships. Rita suffers the loss of her brother who dies of an overdose. Feeling tired of having worked hard for the DEA she decides to take revenge from the system.
The sexual tension between Naranjo and Noriega heightens. The Abadía brothers present a delivery plan to prove the government their good but fake will. Rita and Fonseca plan to counteract the actions of Naranjo and his hunters.
Romero is put in a tight spot for his shady involvement with the cartel money. El Liso discovers the strength of the drug that Rita is supplying him in exchange for information. Naranjo supports the president to avoid a national crisis.
After an infiltration op by Bustamante and the hunters, Roberto Abadía is captured. Claudia suffers the loneliness of raising a family with a devoted cop for a father. Rita tries to obtain valuable intel about the government.
El Liso achieves his revenge on Rita. Noriega ends up wounded for discovering Rita's true identity, but she uses this moment of feebleness to kiss Naranjo and Fonseca witnesses the scene. La Mona is left with the DEA's alleged backing.
Claudia decides to fight for her marriage. El Liso starts working with Arboleda who helps him detox. Fonseca is contacted by Manuel Abadía to help him in getting Arboleda out of the way.
El Liso manages to get rid of La Mona and keep the valuable intel to continue blackmailing Sampedro. Fonseca, torn between good and evil, devises a plan to sabotage an operation to give with the whereabouts of Manuel Abadía.
Trying to avenge the death of Martínez, Fonseca damages the operation mounted by Naranjo and his men; but despite all of this Naranjo tracks down Manuel Abadía and takes him to jail with the determination of finishing off the Cali Cartel.
Naranjo finds out about Claudia's crisis with their marriage. The US embassy gives Sampedro, and his cabinet, an ultimatum to fight against drug-trafficking. A coup d'état is underway and Naranjo is invited to take part in it.
Fonseca leaves Naranjo at Arboleda's disposal so he can negotiate terms and avoid being extradited. When Siachoque tells him it's a bad call, they launch an operation to save his life, but it backfires them when Naranjo escapes on his own.
Naranjo rescues his colleagues and is recognized with a promotion. El Liso convinces Castaño and his partners to get into politics and the hunters take advantage of this to follow their tracks. Fonseca searches for information from jail.
The militia men undergo a crisis due to their inner differences that ends up with someone's death. El Liso reaches out to a guerrilla leader to maintain the drug trafficking route, with nothing standing in his way. Noriega has a new life.
Leal's brother is kidnapped and Naranjo is given the mission to find him, while his men are working on blocking the routes to the guerrilla men and El Liso, who is in the area leading a smearing campaign against Naranjo using his brother.
Naranjo sparks a diplomatic conflict when he recommends bombing a foreign territory to damage the guerrilla. El Liso is caught up talking about treason by the guerrilla commander. Naranjo's brother is arrested for smuggling drugs.
Fonseca escapes from prison to take measures against the person who tricked the general's brother. Naranjo receives full support from Leal regarding his innocence, and he is being offered the vice presidency for Leal's next term.
