Poncherello is head of the CHP entertainment committee for the annual Skate with the Stars charity. Thieves on roller skates create problems for Ponch and Jon.
Ponch and Jon continue pursuing the roller skating smash and grab thieves. Jon helps a famous musician who is exhausted and disillusioned. Meanwhile, Ponch is running out of time to find celebrities for the CHP Skate with the Stars charity.
Sgt. Getraer is injured by thieves who are afraid they will be caught stealing gas using a tanker truck. Ponch takes Sarge's place as the referee for a CHP sponsored kids' roller hockey game.
A man who commits insurance fraud by deliberately causing accidents on the freeway creates a deadly situation. Baricza is injured and another CHP officer is killed.
Ponch and Jon are chasing someone who looks like the daredevil motorcyclist, Roy Yarnell, whom they encountered last year. Ponch is injured. Jon goes to see Roy, but he claims it's not him. That's when Jon asks Getraer to let him use the Supercycle which they used to catch Roy last time.
Due to a police strike, Getraer asks Ponch and Jon to work in Palma Vista. There they meet a beautiful female race car driver, Candi Wright. She finds a traumatized little girl at a fire who won't tell them who she is or where she's from.
Donna is sent back to her foster home but Candi voices her concerns to the social worker. The CHP get closer to busting a hijacking ring based in Palma Vista.
The new watch commander visits Central and begins hassling everyone for violating minor regulations. Even Getraer does not agree with the reprimands. The CHP is looking for thieves stealing trucks from loading docks.
Ponch and Jon are after jewelry thieves who use stolen motorcycles for quick getaways. The CHP holds a fun fair for kids in physical therapy. Ponch attempts to befriend a girl paralyzed after the thief hit her bicycle.
The Christmas season doesn't mean any less work for Jon and Ponch. At the community church, thieves run off with a 15th century bell that means a great deal to the local kids. They also operate a car theft ring and prey on unsuspecting car sellers by taking the cars for a test drive and not returning. When they get in an auto accident, their strange behavior gives them away and they are arrested.
Ponch and Jon both end up in jail for contempt when they refuse to reveal the identity of their informant in court. Getraer has the rest of his officers look for more evidence to get them out.
Ponch signs himself and Jon up for an EMT class at UCLA thinking they would get overtime pay and less time on the freeway. He was wrong. Plus their teacher is a fireman whom they angered that same morning by giving him a ticket.
Two mischievous boys being escorted by John and Ponch get more than they bargained for when the Rolls-Royce in which they are hiding is stolen by 2 desperate fugitives.
Jon brings Ponch along to compete in a desert off road race. They meet pretty girls and thieves searching for stolen gold and a race star who knows about the stolen gold.
Jon's girlfriend has her Mercedes stolen by car strippers. There are also drug smugglers working in the same area. Ponch and Jon start stepping on the toes of the DEA.
Bonnie is hospitalized after a serious car accident. A funny car show is in town which leads to the CHP dealing with many interesting cars on the streets.
