As the new Master of the Clow Cards, Sakura thinks her job is done; however, a new magical force has arrived in Readington. When she tries to combat torrential rains, she's unable to release her key and use her magical powers.
Still unable to release her key, Yue and Keroberos work with Sakura to access her magic. Realizing that Sakura's magic is now drawn by her own star, she discovers a new way to release her key and to change the Clow Cards into Star Cards.
While practicing for an upcoming music competition, Madison is attacked by the school piano. It's up to Sakura and Li to help their friend, and another Star Card is transformed.
Li loses control of himself and attacks Sakura while out investigating a magical presence. Sakura transforms the Sword Card into a Star Card to free Li of the threads controlling his movements.
When Sakura brings Julian a teddy bear gift (despite Kero's strong opinion that food would be better), the bear grows and attacks Sakura and the nearby buildings. She has to transform the Fly Card in a new way to overcome the bear.
While Julian's energy is low, Yue also struggles and is slowly losing his magic. Meanwhile, Sakura tries to increase her energy and transforms two new Star Cards as she, Li, Madison, and Keroberos deal with strange magic at Penguin Park.
When Sakura notices that the Clow Cards feel cold and distant, she tries transforming eight cards into the Star Cards. Without a direct order, this act confuses the Dash Card, which runs off into the night and has to be recaptured.
When Aiden finds an old calendar belonging to Natasha, Sakura is reminded it's her grandfather's birthday. She makes it her mission to give him a special hand-made gift, as her mother used to do.
Sakura is sucked into her copy of Alice in Wonderland. She has to find her way out of the book or become trapped in the story. Two new Star Cards are transformed.
While at a school bake sale, Kero and Spinner meet and share treats. Sweets are an unfortunate weakness of Spinner, and he loses control, consuming all of the baking at the event.
Li wonders whether it's worth staying in Readington now that Sakura is Master of the Clow Cards. After a frightening experience in an elevator and call with his mother, Li decides he is still able to help Sakura.
A spell prevents Keroberos and Yue from returning to their borrowed forms. Sakura spends a day hiding the two magical beings and trying to find a way to help them to transform.
Eli's true identity is uncovered, though only temporarily. Meanwhile, Sakura, Li, Madison, and Kero track down Clow Reed's magic at the school. A twist in the dimensions causes Madison to become separated from the others.
Meilin returns for a brief visit and learns of the new troubles her friends face. She comes up with a way to solve the most recent magical disturbance, and the Freeze Card is transformed into a Star Card.
As Christmas approaches, gifts are on everyone's minds, but trouble is never far behind. The Mirror Card helps cover for Sakura, but fails to trick Tori. He recognizes her and gives her a gift of her own.
Fortunes for the new year are sought at the shrine. Sakura's foretells the importance of her dreams. Meanwhile, Tori notices that Julian has begun to fade from existence.
Chaos ensues at the new wave pool when the water rises and Rita is stranded in the pool. Tori continues to worry about Julian, as he continues to fade.
A school trip to a ski hill results in a sudden snow storm--and an avalanche. Sakura questions whether her magic is strong enough to stop the wave of snow. A little outside help ensures her success.
While filming a school production, Sakura and Tori both see Julian fade. Tori finally confronts his friend. The truth comes out and Tori sacrifices his abilities to help Yue.
Tori and Julian, as well as Sakura and Julian, have an opportunity to talk about recent developments while attending the school exhibition. Clow Reed's magic presents itself, and Sakura learns (temporarily) who the source of the magic is.
While at a winter festival, Sakura, Li, and Madison encounter more strange magic. With Li's help, Sakura stops the troublesome foe and transforms the Thunder and Glow Cards into a Star Cards.
Eli, Ruby, and Spinner reveal themselves. Eli puts a spell on all of Earth, and if Sakura does not break it before dawn, everyone will sleep for eternity. Keroberos and Yue are willing to risk their lives to help Sakura.
Sakura, with the sacrifice of Keroberos and Yue, and Li's additional magic, manages to transform the Light and Dark Cards into Star Cards, and dispel Eli's spell. Afterward, an old friend makes an appearance and all is revealed at a party.
