Smith collapses ill in a shop and Dallas helps him back to his flat but a passerby reports it as a robbery to the police. At the flat disoriented Smith, who has a long military past, pulls a gun on Dallas who escapes and also reports the incident to the police. The flat, owned by Joyce Baird who tries to help Smith, is under surveillance by Special Branch. Dixon and co investigating discover that Smith has a terrorist associate from Africa about to visit. Dangerous confusion and shooting follows.
