Mark stand his ground despite Fran and ever-hysterical Paulien bitterly blaming him for informing the police about Ben, grandpa mediates, Kittie understands as she needs a push to visit Ben in jail and ask if he's innocent of Helena's murder. Ben feels his pro-deo lawyer isn't competent and doesn't even believe him, but needs telling off his grim attitude will only play in the prosecutor's favor. Freek is indefinitely on life support, but Betty is assured he may recover after awakening from coma.

Ben lingers on in jail, desperate as Kittie left saying they have no future without him answering her about his innocence, but amnesia prevents that. Mark arrives home exhausted from his paper round and depressed to be scolded a traitor everywhere, especially by Paulien and Fran, both feeling he should at least talk things through with Ben, but outside prison Mark can't find the courage. Melissa promises Betty, who abandons reading from the Hound of The Baskervilles to Freek as its' too spooky, to organize a benefit for him as his job isn't safe. Grandpa fails to make Fran make up with Mark and tells Kittie, who feels guilty for no longer feeling love for Ben, just to be honest with feelings. Only after a false machine alert he regains some hand control, noticed by nobody. Mother tires of Paulien snapping at everybody, doubts the theory Freek was beaten of by Betty's manager Carlo and suggests Dede make a more likely suspect, although she learned to like him.

Freek regains conscience, but is severely amnesiac. In prison, Ben is finally confident his lawyer will get him free, ignoring Paulien's warning Kittie won't come around, indeed she refuses to pretend to Ben. Mark erroneously scolds Fran for seemingly stealing Ben 's job, leaves when sets that straight and coldly claims never to want to talk to him again. Melissa raises money for Freek's rehabilitation, but actually got his manager job. The dance teacher tells Paulin Kittie has a shot at an international project he's setting up in Las Vegas, she jealously pretends to ignore where Kittie is.

Mark was caught shoplifting a silly headphone, mother realizes the constant frustration got too bad, blames herself and offers to chip in what he lacks to buy his dream synthesizer. Ben is stubbornly confident all will work out with his murder charge and Kittie when she finally visits, but actually scares her by claiming she's 'his alone'. Fran sticks it out working under bossy Melissa, who clearly wants to keep Freek's job. His memory is returning, recalling threats by Ben and Dede, just not about the night he was beaten up.

Mark asked around in pubs till he found out the name of Helena's other suitor, while Ben's lawyer manages to conclude from the autopsy report Ben has a solid work alibi for the time of the murder. After Melissa sneers at Fran the failed collection proves Freek 'has no friends', she joins Betty, who insists her manager Carlo sent goons as with another client's intimate fan, Freek doubts that but not that Melissa is after his job for good. Kittie decides to move out and live alone, but pick up Ben at his expected release from jail, where Ben duly thanks 'redeemed' Mark. Freek's unexpected hospital barber proves Carlo's goon, warning him with a knife on his throat to keep quiet and leave Betty alone.

Mark is generous with presents, but Paulien calls his flowers a cheap bribe to probe Fran for him, the latter won't even listen to his song, Freek only politely thanks him for a CD, only grandpa tries to counsel him patience. Mother goes on strike, as Paulien is too lazy to actually help in the household. Freek isn't looking forward to being released home, fearing loneliness after giving up Betty, and for his job due to Melissa, who refuses to consider a deal with father Julien, who promises to help sell her beauty salon if she helps him sell 'eco-friendly miracle soap'. Kittie seeks to move and is furious to learn Paulien, who now urges her to accept the Vegas dance masterclasses, actually kept the offer jealously secret for a week.

To Mark's relief, mother ends her 'strike', hoping lazy Paulien learned a lesson. The vixen accompanies Freek home, but he's desperate to tears about his future without job or actual friends. Julien delivers a beauty salon takeover proposal, rewarded with a meager soap order from ingrate Melissa. Kittie appreciates a visit from Mark, who inspires his sister to come and make up, but she still decides to move back to her apartment, only to find father the baron rented it to handsome devil named Filip. Visiting Freek, Mark finds him drunk as a skunk.

Fixing a hole in Mark's jeans, mother finds in the pockets cash he took from her wallet. Mark and Paulien find it hard to prevent desperately drunk Freek harming himself, he even refuses to seek his job back. While Filip kindly hands Kittie the keepsake her father threw in with 'her' furnished apartment, she decides to accept the Las Vegas dance project. Now Fran has to return to school, Melissa isn't impressed with her and Kittie's claim Freek can't just be fired for his medical misfortune, but shocked to find what huge quantities of soap her father has delivered at the pool bar. Even grandpa starts loosing his patience with ingrate brat Fran who coldly walks off on Mark and his spot-on gift with 'It's beautiful, you really shouldn't have'.

Mark is relieved when mother decides to cover up his cash thefts, even from Paulien. Kittie gets a goodbye cake there and is accompanied to the airport. Grandpa finds brat Fran unresponsive and utterly defensive. Freek comes to the Aquapool, telling Melissa he won't seek his manager job back but volunteers to help out as quiet deputy and handyman, proving he knows how by repairing the coffee machine. Melissa is forced by Julien to pay the hefty soap bill and a 25% commission for the lucrative sale of her beauty parlor.

Handsome Filip comes to the pool, interesting Melissa in plans for a gym, which Freek looks up old plans for, despite Fran urging him to rebel. Filip draws attention by stripping off publicly for his first swim, Freek brings him lost and found trucks and a warning against snake Melissa. The kids are back in school, Mark has an instant eye in new pupil Angie, a curious hippie type. Julien tires of Melissa hesitating whether to pay his 205% commission but not the soap bill, being its only customer so far.

Slick, athletic Filip agrees to counsel Melissa with detailed plans to convert the garage to a gym, which Freek won't think about, despite Fran urging him to rebel, just sneers Melissa should make up her mind where she wants stuff. Filip promises Fran to help find a place for Ben's now banned Harley by tomorrow. Mark is smitten with new pupil Angie, assuming from a record her real name is Annelies V., actually her 'Biblebelt' mother, mother gets Paulien to promise dropping her hostile attitude 'out of loyalty to Kittie'. Julien enjoys meeting Filip, actually a film student who keeps seeing script potential in things, especially a soap in his soap bill.

Filip actually helps Melissa with detailed plans to convert the garage to a gym, which Freek won't think about, and when Mark points out the Aquapark has another storage facility, makes a deal to take Ben's now banned Harley there, which he may borrow for the day to impress his film school buddies. Grandpa loses patience with entitle spoiled brat Fran. Mark helps Angie organize a house warming party in her student apartment to get to know schoolmates, but an invitation for Paulien only yields more absurd accusations she's an attention junkie who won't properly introduce herself the usual way -indeed plans a petition against the practice- to cover up some 'dirty secrets'.

Filip helps Melissa with detailed plans to convert the garage to a gym, even offers to make a free commercial as film school project, and when Julien -still not -revealed as her father delivers another load of soap and asks the same for his cleaning company 'Rap and Rein', declines as he can pull that stunt only once. Already is murderous mood after detention, Mark frightens mother by cursing the hypocritical history teacher and Paulien, who opposes Angie as badly as he's besotted with her. A surprise from her widower father, whose Bible-obsessed sect forbids nearly everything, compromises her party preparations as he finds the sinful supplies. Freek fails to hide his contact with a mystery woman, which Melissa impersonates to check if it's a newspaper reporter, then counter-blackmails him, yet he insists to pursue their daring mystery plans.

Filip helps Melissa install his detailed plans to install a gym in the garage, reluctantly assisted by Julien, who is not amused she decided to pay his soap only at the rate his cleaning company 'Rap and Rein' can use it, while he needs cash soon. Filip is surprised she temporarily spares Freek now his media plan seems frustrated. Mark worries, having cursed the hypocritical history teacher and Paulien, who laughs away the former actually having a motorcycle accident. Even Angie receives Mark grumpily, complaining he barges in -to help setup his synthesizer for her home warming party- due to the traumatic surprise visit from her Bible-obsessed father. Grandpa scolds Fran, to no effect, for helping herself to his old clothes for the party, without informing him about either.

Filip takes charge installing Melissa's gym in the garage, which Freek warns isn't confirm fire safety regulations, and planning the promotion video, starring her, Freek -golded with a shot at his life-loge acting dream- and even Paulien. After Angie's wild party, Mark and Paulien bicker, mainly over her being thrown out and now somehow blaming Angie for offering on olive branch, and even him for her own clumsiness causing a chocolate spill on his synthesizer. Grandpa and Freek duly scold Fran, who has a hangover. Freek and Betty consider no longer hiding, now he has a baseball bat ready if Carlo sends another goon, but the uninvited door knock is from Melissa, whose suspicion is confirmed.

Filip enjoys instructing Melissa about preparations for the gym promotion video, co-starring Freek and Paulien. Mark and Paulien's bickering seems even more bitter, worrying mother. Angie sulks, even to Mark. Freek and Betty no longer hide, afraid of Carlo sending another goon, but he refuses even to hear a 'reasonable offer' from Melissa, who finds him less docile at work, where both duly scold absentminded Fran, and even Mark whom she pressed to run the bar 'a moment'. Julien was delighted Freek offered him a part-time cleaning contract for the pool, but is shocked that Melissa offers the same for the gym, yet plans to pay soap and work only as it actually progresses, and expects him to do it all in person.

Filip makes Melissa swallow her proud jealousy, especially of his three model friend girls, as preparations and tests advance for the gym promotion video, co-starring easy Paulien and Freek, who focuses on the pool interests and duly refuses to trust her putting the gym case to the board, and is expected to bring in Betty Joy as celebrity. Mark and Paulien's bickering and scolding remains toxic, as she somehow blames him for a 'ridiculous' poetic make-up letter from Angie. Freek duly scolds zombie-like Frans's insolence and bumbling, under the dulling influence of Angie's weed, grandpa asks Mark to report if she's in trouble. Julien's part-time cleaning contracts are at stake in bickering between Freek.

Filip almost looses patience with Melissa's bumbling at the promotion video rehearsals, unlike even Paulien. Meanwhile Freek negotiates his own terms for the Aquacenter, including citrus costumes, a childish song and a scrambler -his questions puzzle Mark- to hide terrified Betty Joy being in it. Mark and Paulien's bickering and scold on over Angie, who bitterly has words with her father about respect, devotion and frugality versus liberty and fun. Grandpa ignores chest pains, but may finally have a real heart attack just after ingrate Fran storms out again, with another hangover.

Filip is almost driven to despair with Melissa's bumbling at the day of the Spartacus opening, when the promotion video gets its last rehearsal, and is shot live, so he snaps even at Mark for being to creative with the music, and sends the latter to check on zombie Fran, whom Filip later reluctantly gives a pill to counter the excessive weed he warns against. Freek all the stops to make sure his bar gets equal exposure, including citrus costumes for him, Betty Joy and Fran, to draw the crowd in from Spartacus for a party, to Filip's taste, while Melissa sulks and her mother explains to Mark's how toxic their relationship is. Angie tells Paulien, who claimed the new history was a woman, it's a foxy man, who just arrives, startling her.

Filip is late for film school as zombie Fran arrived at his place, demanding water and his 'promised help' with her addiction, which he insists to be spelled-out, so he applies massage and a terrifying neck-grip, while grandpa duly worries about her truancy. Freek can't tell Julien what binds Filip to Melissa and wonders why she even keeps her father secret for Filip. Freek mistrusts Melissa completely about the Spartacus promotion video, until Filip shows the first raw version, which only she sulks about as his juice act with Betty stars. At school, the new history teacher is none other than Ben Sterkx, which delights both Paulien and Angie, who digs his approach, but Mark says it sounds like extra work. Freek is surprised as Melissa trusts him to ask him to supervise the gym while she has an appointment, actually tricked by Mark's nurse mother to meet her own, who gets five minutes to explain, and the firm response to stay out of her life forever. Freek and Betty Joy's worries about manager Carlo peek when Melissa presents the video cover, stressing Betty's participation,.

Freek and Julien duly worry about Melissa's hostility, despite Julien helping out with odd jobs for both, like repairing the changing cabins, albeit the holes he drills allow peeping. Freek is shocked as Melissa is distributing posters for the Spartacus promotion video, highlighting that Betty stars in it. Mark is moody due to the extra work for Ben's history class, mother tries to nudge him to approach his former buddy. Grandpa finds junkie Fran unwilling to have breakfast or explain ditching school for day. She also falls out with Angie, who keeps swooning about fascinating Ben and refuses to move form weed to pills, warning those only spell trouble. She turns to Filip, who introduces her to a free sample of cocaine. Freek and Betty Joy freak at the appearance at the pool of a man they fear to be Carlo's thug.

Freek duly scolds Melissa for distributing the video promotion, only to be told it's a done deal hundredfold, while she doubts if Carlo will do anything, although Julien spotted the presumed henchman again, talking to street knaves. Julien isn't impressed by Paulien accusing him -unrecognized- of peeping as he drills in more changing cabins. Freek reads Fran the riot act for turning up after missing four days at the bar, and openly suspects her of the cash missing from the resister that long. Mark is moody due to the extra work for school and lack of interest in his music. Ben is too polite to tell of Paulien's impertinent questions and incessant attempts to spend tie alone with him. Grandpa asks Mark in vain about Fran seeking money, he points out her grade doesn't need to buy the atlas she asked cash for.

Freek is terrified by a threatening letter from Bettu's manager Carlo, who demands 100.000 BEF 'oyalties' for the video, which Melissa laughs away and points out is addressed only to him, so she refuses to contribute a cent. Later Betty is beaten up. Mark remains moody due to the extra work for school and lack of interest in his music. Ben still tries to politely 'ignore away' Paulien's impertinent attempts to spend time alone with him. Filip is not amused by Fran turning up unannounced to expect more drugs, fearing she can't afford it and will get caught, leading to him. Grandpa confronts in vain Fran about her late staying out, absences from both school and job, and flippant attitude about money, giving him more ignored cardiac pain. Julien can't understand Melissa remains so ingrate and hostile, while he blames only her mother, and she's somehow jealous of Paulien, who is surprised her mother feels Melissa must 'have her reasons'.

Freek freaks out completely, finding his flat ransacked before a 'pay or else' one month ultimatum call from Betty's manager Carlo, which Melissa still refuses to contribute to. Filip calm them down, sends Freek to his apartment as safe-house as replaces him at the bar. Later Betty seems missing, until she calls Freek, Filip gets Mark and Paulien to handle the bar -unaware the nosy visitor is the suspected Carlo henchman- and invites Betty also to move in with him. Mark worries about bad school grades, but enjoys Angie admiring his music and contributing to the lyrics. Grandpa finally grounds ingrate zombie liar Fran. Despite doing chores for free, Julien only gets more abuse from Melissa and even Paulien.

Emergency host Filip tells Freek and Betty they need a long term solution, not permanent hiding in his apartment or elsewhere for manager Carlo. After Filip gets Mark and Paulien to handle the bar again and explains to Melissa a press conference to announce the celebrity wedding is also a free national launch for the video, they learn about the returning visitor Lucas. The kids are surprised by a new classmate: Fran, as grandpa arranged for her transfer, but she's still aloof, even gross to Mark.

Filip finds happy couple Freek and Betty still belligerent about the blackmail from manager Carlo. Filip is angry that Fran insist on pills 'once more', and against expressed instructions take them at the aqua park, so he must take her home to grandpa and Betty, leaving Mark in charge of the bar again. Ben -who now insists on Mister Sterkx at school- finally accept a home dinner cooked by mother, who leaves for work before Mark arrives, only to leave gain, feeling beleaguered after his F for history, bantering afterward with mean teacher's pet Paulien. Melissa remains bitter to everyone. The returning visitor Lucas inquires about drug sales, and is an unpleasant surprise when recognized by acquaintance Filip Anjé, whom he knows from a drug past.

Filip is mildly bothered by Freek taking too long is his shower, angry when Fran turns up again and refuses to leave without more dope. Betty worries Freek by doubting if the wedding will stop the blackmail from manager Carlo. Mark is in a foul mood, after bad grades, rightly guessing he'll be banned on that account from the play Ben is planning, with Angie and Paulien rivaling to help writing it. Finally Ben has accepted a second home dinner, afterward caught kissed by Paulien, when Mark arrives, with Paulien's ex Dede, whose announced return from America aroused suspiciously little interest anyhow. Melissa freaks when both parents visit unannounced, blaming Julien for 'years of sexual abuse', which he consistently denies, and failing to even attempt to protect her.

Filip is not amused to see Lucas around again, who alludes to his drug crime past. Fran meanwhile deludes Freek to attempt stealing drugs from his home closet. At the press conference, Freek finds the press dismissive of his plans to manage Betty, who can only offer them photo opportunities. Mark is in an even fouler mood, with Paulien meanly rubbing in his bad grades. Angie's father visits and pay her allowance, but dismisses her play draft on bloody religious wars without a proper reading, she bitterly retorts his sermons on charity sanctimonious for separating her from her mother. Dede is back home with Melissa, who is puzzled he talks Paulien kissing Ben so calmly, the latter doesn't even know who and what she wants any more.

Filip is pissed that Melissa still won't get intimate, while Freek is in his bed with Betty, whom he forbids to meet Carlo 'one last time'. Lucas lurks around the pool again, but Fran won't talk to him, so he starts working to involve Mark, whom she still might listen too. Fran turns up for bar duty stoned again, demanding more from Filip 'or I'll scream', reminded she must start paying off her debts in kind at his place next week, after Freek and Betty leave. To Angie's anger, after Mark even Paulien, drawn between Ben and Dede, bails out from the auditions for Ben's play. Dede got Melissa to let him order a catered dinner to welcome back their mother, but neither female even considers her idea to let her move back in, claiming Julien, who was rudely told to stay away and warned Dede not to believe their lies about him, was the family's 'only problem'.

Filip finally learns that Melissa can't get intimate with anyone, blaming childhood abuse by Julien. Freek is delighted when Betty, dumbly vexed, reports Carlo breaks off all contacts with he 'petty singer' unworthy of his career efforts: they are free. Fran duly feels responsible as her misbehavior caused grandpa's cardiac arrest, she fears he may die. Ben talks Paulien over to audition for his play. Dede wonders how much changed since he left for America.

Ben's casting session for the play about forms of power throughout history goes pear-shaped when he asks Angie as Freud and Paulien as hysterical patient, the latter walks out near hysteria. Filip finally earns a kiss from Melissa, who can't believe he made Julien leave her life, actually having fired him. Freek and Betty enjoy congratulations to he happy couple to be. Mark promises grandpa in hospital to keep an eye on Fran, especially bad friends, and like Paulien earlier bitterly blames Ben for worrying about the impact on the audition as the old cinema is the only suitable, available venue.

Ben tries to adapt the play without Paulien and visits grandpa, who gets him to admit missing Fran has been ditching school too. Angie bickers again with her father for disapproving of the 'ungodly' drawing by Dede fitting her bloody religious wars essay. Filip is closer then ever with Melissa, who can't believe he made Julien leave her life, actually having fired him. Although Filip expects part of the loan repaid soon, Freek grudgingly lets Betty stretch their wedding budget for a classy white dress. Mark duly wonders what about Paulien and Dede after her Ben phase. Ben and grandpa seek Mark's help in vain to track down Fran.

Ben worries about Mark too, who can't concentrate at school till Fran is found, so promises to help him and Lucas look for her all night if she hasn't turned up first. Paulien shocks even ma by ranting about Mark and 'his junkie sluts' Fran and Angie. Filip refuses to tell puzzled Freek, who also wonders about the initials in the coded blue notebook Fran stolen from Filip, why Melissa insisted to fire made Julien, whom Dede physically assaulted in the changing area. Filip finds stoned Fran is his bath and dumps her in grandpa's now empty home, this time with an apparent overdose of pills.

Filip barely had time to stage Fran's pose as Mark just arrived and called an ambulance. Ben appeases Mark's absurd guilt not to have been able to help her better as promises to grandpa, who can't believe she may be suicidal. Julien tries again to visit Melissa at his home, only to find her reconciled with his wife, jointly blaming him for 'wrecking a perfect family home setup'.

Filip gets an aggressive visit from street worker Lucky Luke -who threat-warns Freek never to use that nickname- promising to make him pay for Fran's condition, leading to a fight with Filip on the floor. as Mark just arrived and called an ambulance. Ben's first play reading is upset by Paulien making an undue scene about grandpa's place being an 'insensitive venue' due to Fran, although he okayed it and Fran should get company there, but it's Angie who afterward compromises the play claiming to be unable to handle her psychiatrist role's emotions for private reasons, storming out to vomit, yet tells Mark it went okay. Freek asks Mark in vain why Julien is so hated by kids Dede and Melissa, and has mixed feelings about Bettys' shopping for the wedding they can't really afford.

Filip thanks a drugs contact for reporting inquiring going on, suspecting street worker Lucky Luke. Freek is scared by Betty's unaffordably long list of wedding invitations, yet again dares not cut it. Mark arrived at recovering Fran's sickbed with a giant teddy-bear, finding Ben already brought her the same. She's finally back in a friendly mood, even make sup with Angie, only dares not face grandpa. Paulien gets hysterical again at Angie, Mark and ex-fiance Dede, mother reassures her she tried net dating to no avail, never aspiring a serious relationship. Melissa is happy to share the house with Dede again, not to consider taking in their mother.

Freek proudly shows the 'bargain' diamond engagement ring he scored with a fiend to Filip, who orders one twice as big for Melissa, but expects that ti be a fat repayment on his personal loan, which Freek considers unaffordable with the wedding preparations, claiming hey never agreed terms. Ben fears the play can't go through with a good boy student pulling out as he didn't realize acting takes so much time, even after Dede agrees to take his place 'for a few rehearsals', and Paulien's hysterical over-acting, storming out again after a row with her ex-fiance Dede. Grandpa is caught getting dressed to visit Fran against doctor's orders to stay in bed. Filip sneaks to Fran's hospital room, but has to wait as Luke is there, still trying in vain to make her report Filip as dealer.

Freek celebrates, proudly telling Betty he finally got a booking, the ingrate bride wines it's a probably unpaid opening act. Ben and his cast are stunned when Angie breaks down while rehearsing the Solomon's judgment scene, admitting she lost her own baby Janice, taken away for adoption by strict Protestant friends of her father, Dede takes her home, selfish Paulien wines she lost him for good. Grandpa ignores Lucas's claim Frans just needs time top open up again, even gets dressed to visit Fran against doctor's orders. Filip finally sneaks into Fran's hospital room, offering flowers and pills, but Luke returns and confronts him as dealer.

Freek promises Betty to properly close the booking, refusing to disclose who he got as roadie, and gets her to have her styling done for free by Paulien and mother. Angie stays in bed, whining about he lost baby Janice, won't even have breakfast with Dede, who tells his mother to think twice before becoming dependent on Melissa by moving in and accepting to work for Spartacus, while he tells only Ben he must leave to France soon or miss out on his dream job. After stubbornly denying Lucas's claim Fulip is her dealer and refusing his help, Fran moves back to the movie theater, welcomed by Mark, who however gets into a frenzy after Lucas warns him about Filip.

Freek formalizes Betty's booking and engages Julien, who loves thus irritating Melissa, as roadie, and to Betty's disappointment as DJ for the wedding. Mark can't even enjoy his latest song becoming popular, worrying about Filip's claim that junkie Lucas abuses Fran. Grandpa signs a disclaimer to dismiss himself from hospital in order to return home, hoping to sort things with Fran, who meanwhile only seems to promise Lucas to stay away from Flip to get him off her back, then finds Melissa's mother Lieve at the Spartacus counter informing about absent Filip, who isn't amused she tries again to contact him live, but she insists she can't wait for days.

Freek increasingly irritates Betty by sticking to Julien as roadie, and refusing to start repaying Filip the loan or even admitting he kept the blue booklet, threatening to expose his drug dealing. Filip tells Mark the cheesy ballad for Fran is useless, but promising to see if he can arrange a video clip to sell his 'angry poetry' son to a record company. Lucas is thrown out by grandpa without opportunity to explain Flip is the threat to Fran. Melissa goes AWOL, after overhearing Freek about her and mother Lieve hating Julien incomprehensibly, Filip considers a psychological lesson for Freek. Mark and Dede get Paulien to promise help minding Fran and Angie.

Freek suffers Filip's wrath as Betty's opening gig is canceled, more misery threatened unless he fires Julien as roadie and repays Filip the loan soon, yet Freek keeps denying having the the blue booklet, while ingrate Betty scolds him useless. Mark regains his optimism, but can't afford buying the sound system Freek hopes to sell, only pass the message. Feeling safe supported by Flip, Melissa tells Dede to accept his cartoonist dream job in Perpignan.

Freek threatens to fire Julien, who offers to sell the second hand sound equipment half-price, as roadie unless he can convince Betty to accepting playing for a sports team, which she agrees when he claims to be connected well enough to let her score a hit linked to the nation football (socker) team. Filip promises Mark a musical rocket career, having arranged a cool lyrics writer.
