Near the turn of the 20th Century, Henry Kendall, a young mill owner from Walpole, MA, purchases Slatersville to expand his operations, but must raise its morale and confront Depression-era hardships in order to succeed.
Skating, hockey, and World War II. Like most villages across the Blackstone Valley, Slatersville shifts 100% of its manufacturing to meet U.S. military needs, while its young men fighting abroad experience loss and long to return home.
Post-WWII families of the village were defined by the social barriers of class, culture, religion, and race. A mostly white population is seen in the 1950s through the eyes of the village's only family of African/Native American heritage.
