The ghost of Herbertville's first school principal takes an interest in the paper and begins haunting the Coach House, leaving Otto particularly perplexed.
When the ghost of Mr. Wetherby becomes a nuisance, Lynne and Chris try to devise a plan to drive him out of the Coach House without hurting his feelings.
The kids' work on the newspaper is abruptly halted by an urgent message from Trialviron, and they have to discern whether it's from Dr. Couplet or the devious Duneedon.
Chris and Alex plead with Emperor Triton to let the people of Trialviron pass through his domain on their way to Zeberon. Meanwhile, Duneedon hatches a nefarious plan to return to Earth.
