After quitting Magnitude, Tracy and Charlotte prepare to make a pitch for their new Internet company, TrustMom.com. But when Charlotte's ex-husband, Billy, fails to show up at the meeting, they are forced to deal directly with his partner, Lloyd Rubin. Even though they lack a business plan, Lloyd offers the two women over one million dollars in exchange for majority control of the new venture. And while Tracy is inclined to agree with Lloyd, Charlotte makes it clear that his conditions are unacceptable before storming out. Meanwhile, as Tracy waits patiently to hear back from a recent date, Dr. Bryan decides that he won't give up on Charlotte without a fight. With only a few days left to accept the offer, Tracy seeks an ex-boyfriend's legal advice. While she's glad to hear that Rick is happy to help them negotiate with Lloyd, Tracy is nonetheless stunned to discover that he's getting married. As Tracy comes to grips with Rick's engagement and Charlotte realizes the mistake she's made by giving up on Dr. Bryan, both women look to put their business deal back on track. But after Charlotte encourages Tracy to candidly evaluate her strengths and weaknesses, neither is in any mood to be partners. With some help from Rick, Tracy and Charlotte head back to see Lloyd with their answer. After refusing the terms of his deal, they make it clear that if Lloyd won't negotiate with them, Billy will almost certainly get more involved. Finally, after playing hardball with Lloyd produces the desired result, Tracy calls Vince for a Valentine's Day date.

Sitting on Babies
In the weeks following Danny's birth, it's apparent that Tracy has become obsessed with him. When Dr. Roberts encourages her to take some time for herself, Tracy reluctantly agrees to a date with Rick after her mom offers to care for the baby. However, it only takes one night for Celia to grow tired of her daughter's incessant worrying, forcing Tracy to look for a babysitter. And once she discovers that other mothers aren't willing to share, Tracy turns to the classified ads and finds Jennifer. After hearing some of Charlotte's own grisly childcare tales, Tracy is less than comfortable leaving Danny with a stranger. To test the new sitter's abilities, she secretly takes the baby along on her date with Rick, only to arrive home to find that Jennifer called the police once she noticed that Danny was missing. After explaining herself, Tracy leaves Danny with Jennifer and resumes her date with Rick, only to discover that every other mother at the restaurant has her own childcare horror story. And when Charlotte fails to provide any comfort, Tracy tries to find out more about Jennifer, but gets caught sneaking a look inside her handbag. Following Tracy's apology, Jennifer agrees to continue working. Yet still uncomfortable, Tracy hires a detective to follow her. When Jennifer suspects that someone is trying to kidnap Danny, she calls the police again. Following another uncomfortable confrontation with the law, Jennifer suggests finding another babysitter she can trust, only to have Tracy finally convince her to give it another chance.

Balance

Following six weeks of maternity leave, Tracy prepares for her inevitable return to work. Although she'll be able to keep an eye on her son while he's in the company's on site day care facility, Tracy finds out that going back to her old job won't be easy -- especially after Danny finally falls asleep only minutes before she has to get ready for work. Meanwhile, with her wedding just a few weeks away, Charlotte worries about seeing her fiancée's parents. After absentmindedly sending her son through a car wash while on their way to work, Tracy's myriad concerns about Danny's care and feeding are quickly dismissed at the day care center. And after several calls from the new mom, the center's staff stops answering the phone altogether. Already overwhelmed, Tracy is told to finish an important assignment by the end of the day. With the deadline still looming, she's unaware of being spotted using her breast pump in a supposedly empty office. After Tracy completely forgets a lunch date with Rick, she promises to join him for dinner. However, a big meeting at 7:00 PM and the day care center's 5:30 closing time leave Tracy struggling to care for Danny and meet all her other obligations, too. As Charlotte learns that Dr. Bryan has called off the wedding, the pressure at work, caring for Danny and attending to her distraught friend cause Tracy to completely forget her dinner date. And while Rick balks at being pushed down on her list of priorities, Tracy discovers that her co-workers aren't going to tolerate any slacking off either.

Corruption

Fri, Sep 24, 1999

While having a child without a husband has made her the group's idol, Tracy listens carefully as the other mothers talk of getting their children enrolled in a good Mommy and Me group. As a result, she wonders if she should consider applying, even if it means having to stretch the truth a little. And while her status as an artificially inseminated mom gets Danny preferential treatment at the prestigious Clarington Academy, Tracy turns down the spot after learning of its $15,000 price tag. Some persistent worries about Danny getting into a good college send Tracy back to the drawing board. Even though she's not a church member, Charlotte suggests that she try the class at Westwind Presbyterian. And while there is one opening coming up, Tracy must compete with another mother who's just as determined to get her child in, too. So, when Tracy demonstrates her commitment by volunteering at the church bake sale, Nina retaliates with solid performances at their clothing and blood drives. With Nina pulling ahead, Tracy must go all out when asked to help out at a birthday party for the headmistress';s six-year-old daughter. After Nina's extravagant gift gives her a clear advantage, Tracy hurries to rescue the party's costumed entertainer when he passes out from dehydration.
