Europa 2

Sat, Mar 04, 2017
A Cruise where the Guests Choose the Itinerary On this voyage, Europa 2 sets sail from Istanbul on the ship's first-ever "surprise cruise" - where the guests vote on which ports they will visit over the ten-day trip. It's a daring concept with the potential for chaos. The ship's excursion team has days - not weeks - to arrange on-shore tours. The Captain must plot out his course almost overnight, then conduct precise maneuvers entering some of the most challenging ports in the Aegean Sea. While the guests indulge in champagne and caviar, the crew works overtime, with the cruise director even admitting "We said, 'Yes, of course, no problem.' And now we have a problem."

Ocean Endeavor

Sat, Mar 11, 2017
A Voyage through the Ice to the Northwest Passage For the passengers, this cruise offers only wonder and excitement. For the ship's crew and expedition team, though, every experience brings uncertainty and the potential for danger. A trip through thick fog and icebergs in the northern hemisphere - ethereal and stunning for the guests - puts the Captain on high alert. Reports of a polar bear sighting create anticipation for a group of hikers, but tense concern for the expedition guides. And when a huge ice floe blocks the route to the first stop in Canada, the ship's navigator and expedition leader scramble to revise the itinerary - looking for wildlife and sightseeing opportunities that can be enjoyed without bringing guests ashore. All this aboard a ship that ventures through Arctic waters on its own - with Coast Guard assistance not hours, but days away.

MSC Divina

Sat, Mar 18, 2017
A Cruise through Hurricane Season This sold-out cruise poses many challenges: shuttling an entire shipload of passengers ashore on small boats with the ship anchored out in the harbour; organizing on-shore tours for 1500 to 2000 guests; getting everyone back a board in time - not to mention the task of entertaining and feeding them all on board the ship. For the Captain, there are greater concerns: sudden winds that can push MSC Divina off course in tight harbours, changeable currents that force him to execute approaches to the dock that he has never before attempted; and worst of all, a brewing tropical disturbance that might close the last port - forcing the ship to ride out the potential hurricane at sea.
