Jossy returns from a few weeks in 'Geordieland' to find the boys all distracted and out of shape, having barely trained during his entire absence. The reason? They've all discovered girls. Dave Sharkey's threat to take over their ground if a home game isn't played soon therefore puts Jossy and Albert in a quandary.
Mr. Nelson secures a dozen tickets for a recording of TV quiz A Question of Sport - the perfect incentive for the boys. It's not long before a new rivalry with Dave Sharkey's team is sparked. Meanwhile, Glenda's keen to arrange a date for her marriage to Jossy.
Out for a romantic meal with Glenda, Jossy finds himself arguing with an Italian restaurant manager who doubts his knowledge of football, and arranges a semi-friendly between the Giants and a visiting Italian youth team.
When the boys turn up for training complaining of all matter of aches, sores and pains after playing the Italian team, Jossy realises it's time to get them properly fit. He arranges a trip to Scarborough for a bit of fitness training.
The long-awaited 28th has arrived: wedding day. There's just the small matter of a match against Dave Sharkey's lot to get played first, and when their bus to St. James's Park breaks down, it puts the whole day's schedule in jeopardy.
