Feuertanz auf Bali
On Bali, trance is a way to come into contact with gods and demons. In fire dances or "transformations", the so-called Sanghyangs, people always slip into the shape of an animal god when great events are imminent: Birth, wedding, illness or death. Away from all major tourist centres, these rituals are still alive today.

Unter Berbern

Sun, May 17, 1998
Nothing works without "Insch'Allah" - as Allah wants it - whether one really meets at the agreed time, whether one actually does a negotiated business or whether one can keep a promise: it is in Allah's hands. This probably applies to most of the Islamic states, but in particular to the country on the threshold to the African continent. We are in "Al Mamlakah al Maghrebia", in the Kingdom of the Maghreb, in short: in Morocco. The land of Berbers and merchants, of jugglers and nomads probably fulfils most of the wishes for a chapter of 1001 nights.

Almost 1000 years ago the Moors left their traces on their conquest campaign to Spain, the city became the metropolis for craftsmen. The trade routes of the "Fassis" still extend today via Gibraltar to the European mainland.
