He takes them on a tour of the facility, where they learn all the stages of processing the city's waste. In the end, Watt realizes the missing pen was in his pocket all along.
When Watt accidentally rips the cape of his Superbulb action figure, he goes shopping with Frank and Windy in search of a new one. Along the way, he learns about many different types of stores, including grocery stores, hardware stores, and department stores. At last, Watt finds a new cape and returns home with a new appreciation for the kinds of stores and what they sell.

Eager to find out more, they write an email to Watt's uncle and jump inside the computer to see where it goes. The group explores the internet and soon discovers that it is made up of many routers that help the message reach its destination.

Their investigation leads them all around the playground as they interview sources and gather the facts. Ultimately, they discover that the shed is not haunted and learn the importance of investigating a claim.
While on a ferry tour, Watt's grandfather Edison recounts his life story and how he immigrated to City Island. His life appears in flashback as he describes how he moved to City Island from another country, grew up, went to college, and met his wife, Candle. The flashback ends as the family arrives at Torchy, the Welcoming Statue, who smiles and waves at her old friend Edison.
It's Swap Day at City Island Elementary, where students trade their unwanted belongings. Watt really wants a Dusty Buster helmet, but its owner, Boxter, doesn't want to trade him for his comic book. With help from Mark, Watt learns that items hold different amounts of value for different people and completes a series of trades to obtain the helmet.
Watt can't wait for Sparkle Day -- it's his favorite holiday of the whole year. But when he finds out that Windy celebrates a different holiday, Cold Breeze Day, he doesn't know what kind of present to give her. Frank and Watt head to the City Island Holiday Fair to get some ideas, where they learn about many different winter holidays and how they are celebrated.
