Simon Bodger is looking for a new job and applies for the post of Handyperson at Letsby Avenue Junior School. But if he wants to get the job he will have to sit a test set by the fierce Headmistress Mrs D. "fish-face" Trout.
Mrs Trout's birthday cake from the cake shop mysteriously disappears shortly after Badger opens it so Bodger makes a miniature mashed potato statue of the headmistress as a replacement. Miss Moon spots this and thinks the fairies have cast a spell on Mrs Trout.
Bodger and Badger mistake Mrs Trout for a burglar when she puts on a costume for the Mayor's Fancy Dress Ball. However, it is not long before a real burglar breaks in to steal the school trophies.
Mavis from Troff's Nosherama, who is now a pop star, comes to visit Simon at the school. Everyone is excited to have a pop star on the premises, even Mrs Trout. Mavis hypnotises Badger into singing "Old MacDonald Had a Farm".
