Deer Island, Massachusetts, June 25, 2015: A female toddler's body wrapped in two plastic bags washes up on the shores of Deer Island, a small island connected to Boston via a causeway. Area residents rally to find out who she is, and what happened to her. She is nicknamed "Baby Doe" while the investigators field hundred, if not thousands, of potential leads. The unprecedented solidarity of the Boston community receives nationwide attention, helping police solve a heartbreaking mystery. In the end, the case is solved within a few months by a phoned-in tip. This leads investigators to those responsible, Rachelle Bond, the girl's mother; and Michael McCarthy, the mother's boyfriend. The child was identified as Bella Bond, age two. The two responsible are arrested, convicted, and sentenced.
