Stuttgarter StadtPalais museum director Dr. Kilian Stöger is stabbed to death there, shortly after rude rapper Marc Jessner intruded without invitation the presentation to the media of an exposition on Hip-Hop in Stuttgart and openly threatened Dr. Stöger for the 'fake show'. That day an exhibited historical model of the city's iconic Stuttgarter TV tower is stolen, probably the murder weapon, which the police now realizes may be used in another murder. The director had a secret affair with his controversial latest recruit Janine Schneider, whom he promoted at the expense of his hitherto devoted deputy Jutta Bruckner, who coordinates the exhibitions.

Damir Schröder, former star and players adviser at Handball club 1. HC Stuttgart, which is about to promote to the German national league, is found murdered in their VIP-lodge. Tension rose as he had ever less time for his clients, even present star scorer Florian Mayer. Schröder challenged despotic club president Friedrich Brett, whom fans blame for all club's troubles, by standing against him in upcoming internal elections. Damir also had an affair with Friedrich's daughter Annika Brett, the club's press officer, which is wife Inga Schröder claims to be one of many meaningless flings. Neither woman has an alibi, and Rico finds fraud.

Mick Schuster was fatally shot after rising to celebrity as fashion model, first in jail, and lover of Stuttgart designer Marie Färber, who now falls back on his 'double-use predecessor' Maurice Grange. Mick's roommate and former cellmate, Diego Lindner, claims to ignore about a threatening letter from Sigrid Gruschka, whose cop son Helge is helpless in a wheelchair since Mick crashed into him during a robbery. Marie Färber's top seamstress Anna Raab seems to link to all parties, which fits with one more discovery, in Diego's apartment, after Kaiser helped him to a job in Schotti's garage.

Undertaker Gina Preuss lies skull-smashed in a grave on the Stuttgart cemetery. Her brother Enno Preuss now inherits their father's firm, which he wanted to modernize, she objected, but already ran into debt. Gina previously had been employed by junior detective Nele's father, Manfred Becker, who also seems involved in fraudulent practices with last remains, brought to the team's attention by deeply disgruntled, even threatening customer Amadeus Sandmann, whose sister's ashes seems missing instead of buried, and cemetery florist Dagmar Adam.

Burlesque theater "Salon Rouge" star and co-owner Eva Baal has a fatal cardiac arrest during the new show's dress rehearsal, induced by heroin mixed into her 'regular' cocaine. Managing equal co-owner Dora Krumme, whom the team falsely suspected of murdering her partner in a defunct circus, sees no suspect. Bank officer and regular guest Raul Hübner was suspiciously generous with dubious credit, having a crush, and his wife Sonja took the theater's recent recruit Anna Thoman's burlesque dance course to re-boost their marriage. Eva's drug dealer presumably also supplied the heroin, but is found murdered himself. The eager beaver female uniformed officer volunteers the take the course undercover, which proves as dangerous as interesting, delving into Eva's extracurricular activities.

On a quiet day at the precinct, an armed man suddenly takes Rico Sander hostage, barricading captain Kaiser's office. It's elite Bundeswehr trooper Jens Zimmermann, who believes his wife's suicide two days ago amounts to murder, which he demands solved. The colleagues oblige, rather then risking a SWAT attack; focusing on Jens' former comrade in arms Erik Michalski while Rico works on a bond. Jens is treated for post-traumatic stress by army psychologist Andreas Seltenreich, who suggest on crazy deed, but has his own dirty secret.

Stuttgart's best-known, colorful LSBTTIQ bar owner, Samuel Hofer, is beaten to death outside. The community protests against the presumed hate crime, but the team must also consider Hofer's personal adversaries. Anton Zapf, who had to sell him the bar "Streusand" after the rent was doubled, openly swore revenge, committed repeated vandalism and his dog's hairs are found on the victim. Samuel's unrealistic third world activist Helena is broke, rejected by their parents, move din with Samuel, yet he planned to sell out and start a new life without her. DNA also traces to German-born Khales Karimi, youngest son of an Iranian refugee with terminal cancer, and closet-gay, the only threat to his apparently bright future, hence big brother Yunis's pride.

When a TV talk show debates on homeopathic 'globuli', critical journalist David Pfannenschmidt, announced to publish a 'crushing' book on the subject, demonstratively swallows a whole bottle of proponent Goldbach's noneffective globuli and dies: they were poisoned with potasium cyanide, but by whom, and who was the intended victim? Tv moderator Mascha Ahlers, ruthless publicity seeker, has access, as well as David's fiancee Inga Vögele, and an outsider, later identified with a long term motive.

While Martina Seiffert interrogates robbery suspect Mirko Poll, Nele is shocked to recognize the marks of the never-caught runway driver that left her mother fatally car-crashed four years ago. An anonymous caller demands Mirko Poll's liberation, or he'll shoot anyone leaving the precinct, as he soon proves deliberately missing a child buggy and seriously wounding a cop. Forensic pathologist Benedikt Förster commandeers lab technician Jan Arnaud to assist in operating on his first live patient, die while the detectives frantically work out who is shooting from where and why.

Former bodybuilder Sonja Römer was murdered in her own gym. Son Linus and his buddy Marcel Hansen, both employed their as personal trainers, point at pimp king Klaus Bühler, with whom she recently ended illegal anabolic steroids dealing. She also rowed with junior business partner Tessa Philipp who run the fitness gym for young mothers but got into debt after illness, creditor Sonja wanted to take it over. Nele Becker goes undercover in Bühler's new pub as barkeeper, to find out where the drugs went. Marcel and Sonja shared as secret.

Model student Konstantin Alt reports missing his girlfriend Julia Neuhaus, who studies biology and is found on the bank of the river Neckar. Her fatal fall from a bridge is no suicide, she was pushed. She was recently award a scholarship for the US, and her rent was paid in advance, 10 000 Euro cash, by a sugar-daddy. Konstantin and Julia both paid their studies through an escort dating platform. The team digs for various jealous motives.

Wealthy investment adviser Karsten Jacobsen is found in a park, wearing only his underpants,fatally shot with a 19th century flint bullet. Homeless first suspect Peter Meinecke probably actually just 'found' his credit card, cellphone a, jacket in a dumpster. Mysterious countess von Morcerf repeatedly called him that night. Fresh widow Jessica Jacobsen clarifies he belonged to a costumed, very private club, reenacting French salon-culture, without her. The team's undercover, chief Kaiser, leans club manager Niels Kleine was with him that night. Jessica she suspected he had an an affair and is pregnant, while he was infertile, pointing to her very friendly business partner Marc Nowak.

Maja Rieger (17) atypically didn't come home all night, nor the morning, then her backpack is found in a wood. She never arrived by bus to her job in a fast-food diner. The team finds little trails from previous weeks. Doting father Manfred, strict stepmother Vera, elder sister Laura and the latter's family firm-employed, in-living husband Marvin object being treated a routine suspect and turn to the media for help from the public 'as the police fails', but their alibis crumble. Rico also finds Maja planned to meet an attractive young man she met by chat-room, but is a cyber fake.

A corpse has Peter Schmidt's company ID, yet the real one is alive when Rico drops by, expecting help with identity theft, as someone orders stuff in his name, carefully. The gifted hacker keep creating and deleting new accounts, yet IT-smart Rico Sander (and his buddy Ameli) finds he leaves a probably deliberate trail to another ID victim, Dr. Philipp Brinks. The team concludes the three victims must be linked, and digs in their lives, while an anonymous Internet contributor hints them. Pushy Nele Becker, who hoped to find the hacker undercover, gets kidnapped by him, while the grown ups, including coroner Förster, find out how it all ties to the tragedy of Max Rau and his late, equally young buddy.

Lawyer Dr. Burkhardt Meurer was skull-smashed on his firm's parking with a cooking pan he carried on her birthday to his simpleton cook daughter Vanessa's employer, the bistro "Na and!", created by social worker Franziska Lanze. The party was also attended by her equally IQ-modest boyfriend, waiter Tim, Dr. Meurer's present wife and Vanessa's mother Birgit. Burkhardt Meurer announced there he arranged for Vnessa to be transferred, alone, to a home in Flensburg, shocking Vanessa and Tim, who still plan naively to get engaged.

Jürgen Kohlbeck is shot in his living room, reported by his cardiac surgeon Dr. Aylin Lorenz who worried he didn't respond. Jürgen Kohlbeck was a xenophobe who falsely accused the Turkic doctor, even failed a formal complaint challenging her license, most annoying for the hospital. The garage key found on crime sight fits the garage box he rented to store Nazi memorabilia, partially illegal in Germany. This shocks the garage owner Rainer Michels, who runs an antiques firm with his adult son Philipp. The latter is in trouble with an ultra-right Burschenschaft (type of frat), whom he sold some behind his respectable father's back, but the latter also hides a relevant secret. Finding Schrotti fainted in his workshop, Jo Stoll learns he needs a kidney transplant and offers to be tested, but his mate doesn't want to endanger Jo.

Retired opera singer Olga Bechtle (76) was murdered in her villa pool after a late party before taking off on a long, suspiciously expensive world cruise. The many guests are suspects. Olga Bechtle could afford it by selling the house under market value with a life-long annuity, faking fatal illness, which yields extra suspects. The deceived buyer, bank officer Carsten Broicher, was spying on her 'miracle recovery'. Niece Isabell Frey, sole intestate heiress, was to mind the house, possibly hoped to speed up the succession. Real estate agent Hans-Georg Mahler was in cahoots with Olga, who also did strange financial transactions with her senior buddy neighbor, who also got cheated out of a fortune. Joe can't concentrate on the case, being ruled out as kidney donor match for Schotti, whose worsening condition renders a transplant urgent.

Trail-biker Monja Karner's fatal fall on the Stuttgart downhill mountain-bike-track in the forest was clearly caused by a lifted rope. Forester Bernd Scherer was frustrated as he failed to win a case to have it banned against Philipp Bode and Monja Karner's club. Monja Karner recently dumped as boyfriend and housemate the (club) mechanic Arne Moser, whose bike repair shop she basically financed, which he now inherits contractually. Arne's shop assistant Lara Gerland recently missed her dream job application after a biker hit and run, possibly by Monika, which lead to blackmail, and has an affair. The team finds more secrets.

Just before Stuttgart has been-band Beyond Mars's reunion concert after 25 years, guitarist-songwriter Paul Wagner is skull-smashed in manager-base player Gerry Brügge's office with a golden record. *Perfektionist Paul Wagner criticized Brügge's diminished competence as guitarist. Paul and his brother, band drummer Florian "Flocke" Wagner, bickered, especially over Flocke's wife Lina, the front singer, whose vocal competence is also dubious. Detective Rico Sander is almost shocked to hear his ever-irresponsible mother Pia had a dispute with the manager, who refused to declare official the lame t-shirts she designed for the band and already ordered.
