Tobio is an average person who is perfectly fine with it. However, his average life is about to change when he and his friends come under the radar of delinquent Ichihashi and his gang.
The boys try to go on with their lives after the bombing incident; however, it won't be easy with the incident gaining the public's attention and detectives starting their investigation.
Suspecting the Yabato teacher of the explosion, Tobio tries to find some proof while trying not to get caught by Ichihashi and the detectives after him.
After an attempted sexual assault, Tobio is reminded of the time he forced himself on Renko and decides to apologize, but gets upset when he sees her with Ichihashi. Meanwhile a mysterious guy claims to be responsible for the bombing.
Tobio, Paisen, Maru, and Isami finally reunite after no longer being suspects. However, Tobio has doubts about his damaged friendships and the way things are now, despite trying to ignore them and enjoy life.
Tobio starts going out with Renko and decides to tell Ichihashi about it. But when he learns Ichihashi's grandmother has passed away, he can't break the news to him and decides to spend time with him instead.
After the tragedy with Ichihashi, Tobio decides the best thing he and his friends can do is to turn themselves in. Paisen, Maru, and Isami agree with him, and they begin planning to announce their crime to the world.
With their announcement interrupted and Paisen being put in a position to take all the blame, Tobio feels determined to face his punishment and atone for what he did to the 10 students and Ichihashi.
